I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and National Certified Counselor specializing in treating individuals with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, depression, anxiety, and women’s issues. I primarily work with ages 10 and up, young adults, and groups. I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of North Georgia and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I am also a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP).
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. During our initial visits, we will discuss your background and goals for therapy, followed by dissecting mental and emotions barriers in your life. I primarily focus on getting to know you, your goals for therapy, and the best way for us to move you into a healthier direction for your life.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my deep understanding of eating disorders, body image concerns, and trauma, as well as my ability to create a safe, compassionate space for clients to explore their emotions. I combine evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and Family-Based Treatment with a warm, empathetic style that helps clients feel heard and supported. I am particularly skilled at helping clients rebuild a healthier relationship with themselves and their bodies while fostering meaningful connections with others.
Since earning my master’s degree, I’ve gained experience in family, group, and individual therapy across various mental health settings, including inpatient psychiatric care, court-mandated outpatient programs, and higher levels of care (inpatient, residential, and PHP) for eating disorders. I’ve worked with individuals facing trauma, mood and personality disorders, and grief. I enjoy working alongside clients to help them understand their emotions, build strong connections with themselves and others, and foster a healthy relationship with their bodies. I use evidence-based approaches in my work, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family-Based Treatment (FBT).
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. We work together to reframe thoughts, develop coping strategies, and implement positive changes.
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage intense emotions and build healthier coping skills. We focus on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and effective communication.
