New clients continue care with this provider

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Substance Abuse Professional, and Masters Certified Addictions Professional. With over 30 years experience in the mental health field. I am empathetic, nonjudgmental, sarcastic, and have a tendency to curse too much. I am best known for my non-traditional approach to therapy. I thinks outside the box, and tailor my approach to therapy to meet each client’s unique needs. This is done by drawing from various modalities, to customize the right approach for each individual. This eclectic approach allows me to adapt to the diverse needs of my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session can be anxiety provoking for many, as you do not know what to expect. I can assure you, it is completely painless. We will spend time talking and getting to know each other. I will answer any questions you may have, and review what you can expect from therapy with me. Together we will create realistic, achievable goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I take an out of the box approach to therapy, which my clients appreciate. I will never ask a client “How does that make you feel?” Instead I create a comfortable environment that fosters communication. As a clinician I am nonjudgmental and empathetic. However, I will call people out on their s**t. I am here to help you, not just nod my head in agreement.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I believe that each client is an individual, and therapy should be customized to meet the needs of each individual. I accomplish this by taking an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from different modalities to meet each person’s unique needs. For clients struggling with addiction, I understand that not every person is ready for sobriety. I take a harm reduction approach, collaborating with the client to create realistic, achievable goals. For clients struggling with LGTBQ? Issues, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental place to help client’s develop a better understanding of themselves. Going to therapy does not mean there is something wrong with you that needs fixing, it means you just want to be the best version of yourself.

My treatment methods

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) appeals to me, because it focuses on identifying and challenging irrational beliefs that contribute to emotional distress. I appreciate its direct, solution-focused approach, which empowers individuals to replace self-defeating thoughts with rational, constructive ones. RET’s emphasis on personal responsibility and cognitive restructuring aligns with my belief in practical, evidence-based methods for emotional well-being. Its structured framework allows for meaningful, lasting change by helping individuals develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

As a clinician I support Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) because of its pragmatic, goal-oriented approach that emphasizes strengths and solutions rather than dwelling on problems. I appreciate how it helps individuals identify and build on their existing resources to create meaningful change in a short period. SFBT’s focus on small, achievable steps aligns with your belief in empowering clients to take control of their progress. Its positive, future-focused framework resonates with my preference for practical, results-driven therapeutic methods.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I support Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because of its structured, evidence-based approach to addressing thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. I appreciate how it empowers individuals to identify and reframe negative thinking, develop healthier coping strategies, and make lasting behavioral changes. CBT’s practical, goal-oriented nature aligns with my belief in effective, solution-focused interventions that provide individuals with the tools to manage challenges and improve their overall well-being.
