New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Wisconsin who works with adolescents (ages 12+) and adults. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to support clients in a variety of settings, including as a school counselor, a mental health provider in a county jail, in private practice, and now through Grow Therapy. These experiences have given me a broad perspective on the unique challenges people face and the resilience they bring to the counseling process. I work with individuals experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the effects of childhood trauma. My approach is rooted in creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. One of my passions is helping people understand how their brain and nervous system respond to stress, trauma, and the world around them. I believe that when we understand why we think, feel, and react the way we do, we can approach healing with greater self-compassion and confidence. While trauma can have a lasting impact, I believe growth beyond trauma is possible, and I am honored to walk alongside clients as they work toward healing and a more fulfilling life. I earned my bachelor's degree in Developmental Psychology, my master's degree in Counseling, and my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I value lifelong learning and strive to incorporate evidence-based practices into my work while tailoring therapy to each client's unique needs and goals. When I'm not working, I enjoy crocheting and other crafts, spending time with my dogs, biking, and traveling. I look forward to supporting you on your mental health journey and helping you build the skills and insight needed to create lasting, positive change.
I often compare the counseling process to shopping for a new pair of shoes—it has to be the right fit. During our first few sessions, I spend time getting to know you, your experiences, and what has brought you to therapy. At the same time, you'll have the opportunity to get to know me and decide whether my approach feels like a good fit for your needs. I also review confidentiality, its limits, and what you can expect from our therapeutic relationship. Rather than making this feel like an interview or a checklist, I prefer to have these conversations naturally so you can feel comfortable asking questions and sharing your story.
My therapeutic approach integrates principles of Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe that every person already possesses strengths and abilities that can support their healing and growth. Together, we'll identify what is already working well in your life and build upon those successes. From there, we'll explore the areas that feel more challenging and determine how your existing strengths can be applied in new ways to help you move toward your goals. My role is not to tell you what to do but to partner with you in discovering practical strategies that fit your life and values.
The clients who tend to benefit most from working with me are those who are ready to actively engage in the therapeutic process. You don't need to have all the answers or know exactly where to begin, but a willingness to participate, reflect, and practice new skills between sessions can make a meaningful difference. Therapy is a collaborative process, and lasting change often comes from consistent effort over time. I encourage clients to view therapy as an investment in their well-being. While progress is rarely linear, regular attendance and active participation provide the opportunity to build momentum, strengthen coping skills, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. Together, we'll celebrate your successes, learn from setbacks, and develop practical strategies to help you reach your goals.
In our sessions, we'll explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another while identifying patterns that may no longer be serving you. Together, we'll challenge unhelpful beliefs and develop balanced perspectives and practical skills that support lasting change.
A mind-body approach recognizes that our thoughts, emotions, and physical responses are deeply connected. Together, we'll learn to understand your nervous system, build awareness of how stress and trauma affect your body, and develop strategies to help you feel more regulated, resilient, and in control.
A person-centered approach is based on the belief that you are the expert on your own life and have the capacity for growth and healing. My role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, accepted, and empowered to discover solutions that align with your values and goals.
