My name is Andrea Taylor, LCSW. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) and Certified Specialist in Anger Management (CSAM) based in the Tampa, Florida area. My experience has taught me that the most important aspect of counseling by far is the connection and comfort you feel with the person you choose to share your personal struggles. I believe we can all grow through challenging experiences through self-awareness. We all want to be able to share our personal truths and be accepted and understood. I believe it's very important to be open-minded and non-judgmental when someone shares their personal story or experiences. I've worked with individuals and couples who have a variety of personal issues such as anger management, depression, anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), family problems, relationship/parenting, grief/bereavement, infertility, life-threatening illnesses and more.
In our first session together, we'll start with a brief introduction, then dive into specific challenges you're facing and discuss your personal goals. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I pride myself on meeting all my client's needs to the best of my ability; however, I find my work with anxiety disorders primarily Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) very rewarding. I also find that my casual and approachable nature seems to be a compliment to my practice.
As a certified specialist in anxiety and anger management; I find working with adults with anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and anger management tend to be a good fit for my clinical style. However I'm able to tailor my practice for fit my client needs.
Over 15 plus years of utilizing ACT has helped my clients accept difficult emotions, distance themselves from negative thoughts, stay present and focus on their goals and build resilience and living with purpose.
My experience with CBT has helped my clients manage their anxiety and OCD which a focus on identifying, challenging and reframing negative thoughts and behaviors using techniques such as cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy.
