First session
Are you tired of feeling like your mental health is a guessing game? Maybe you are struggling to focus through the day, waking up with a heavy sense of dread, or feeling like your current treatment plan just isn't working anymore. You want relief, but you also want to be heard, not just handed a prescription. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I partner with you to find answers. My approach combines conservative, evidence-based medication management with supportive therapy. We look at the whole picture—your lifestyle, your goals, and your biology—to create a plan that helps you feel like yourself again. No judgment, no rushed appointments, and no cookie-cutter solutions.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is integrative and specific to your needs. I practice conservative medication management. This means we focus on finding the lowest effective dose of medication to manage your symptoms while minimizing side effects. I do not believe in over-medicating or rushing the process. Your input is vital; we will discuss the risks, benefits, and alternatives of every option so you always feel safe and informed about what goes into your body. I often utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, supportive therapy, solutions focused therapy, and psychodynamic therapy when appropriate to the context of our sessions. My methods include active listening and building a working partnership with you to help you meet your goals.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult or high-achieving professional who feels completely drained by chronic anxiety, stress, or low mood. You are doing your best to keep up appearances, but inside, you are struggling to focus, sleeping poorly, and feeling disconnected from your life. You might be hesitant about psychiatric medication because you don't want to feel numb or lose your edge. Your goal is to find sustainable relief, restore your mental energy, and partner with a provider who listens to your concerns and respects your pace. I love collaborating with talk therapists. If you are currently in therapy, I will gladly partner with your clinician to ensure your medication and therapy goals align perfectly.
Treatment methods
Supportive
I use supportive therapy frequently in my practice. I find that clients respond positively when they feel that they are supported in their mental health journey. We discuss options for solutions to problems and the impacts of decisions and outcomes on mental health.
Christian Counseling
For clients searching for an additional Christian faith-based approach, I am knowledgeable in both the principles of Christianity and application of those principles as they apply to mental health care.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
The cognitive behavioral approach allows my clients to become aware of the connection between their thoughts, actions, and mood. I use this method nearly daily in my practice.
