HI! I am a licensed psychologist in California and received my doctorate in 2015. I have been practicing in a variety of settings for the past 12 years and have a lot of experience working with minority adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, familial conflict, and stress management. My current clients have shown improvement with consistency in treatment at managing their thoughts and behaviors; which has impacted their relationships and life perspective overall.
In our first session together we will focus on getting to know one another and exploring expectations for therapy. We will also learn more about your personal goals for yourself and how we can implement some practices together to achieve those goals.
Having worked with adults from different walks of life over the past 12 years in different capacities I have learned that the best thing I can do for a client is to be transparent and direct in the process of helping clients navigate root causes of possible challenges and behaviors and ensuring that clients can stay on track with their personal plan to achieving symptom relief and goals.
I love working with clients who just show up for themselves and are ready to tackle whatever it is in their life that presents as a barrier. Even if a client is unmotivated or feeling lost, the initiative that it takes to take a step with therapy to address those feelings is admirable.
Porsha Dodson offers therapy covered by CalViva Health (Medi-Cal), Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Net (Medi-Cal), L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
I utilize CBT techniques to help clients navigate the influence of core beliefs on thoughts and behaviors. Clients will be challenged to focus on how their thoughts influence behaviors and how these behaviors may or may not be helpful to achieving overall life goals and life vision. How can we find possible roots to anxiety and depression and increase coping skills to manage daily.
