I am first and foremost a human which means that we have more in common than not. I identify as a sis gender, neurodivergent,, , African American/Black American woman, from the south and this shows up in sessions through cultural compassion for the clients I work with, open and respectful communication,, and sometimes the urge to talk more but instead my own skills to maintain a therapeutic and professional flow. I have an abundance of lived experiences and find some of them share worthy at times, when there are similar to experiences clients discuss.. I do enjoy levity when I experience it and bring that into the sessions at times. I love working with clients who are interested in CBT and DBT because I I enjoy practicing my skills ijn my personal life and sometimes something helps a client and my own personal development simultaneously and that’ lights up my heart. .

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session I will review each of the policies you sign and provide clarify regarding any questions you might have. We then move on to completing an assessment, during the assessment I will confirm the details from your intake questionnaire that you completed prior to the appointment, I take things at a pace that works for you but am comfortable redirecting if we move a bit “off track “ I will also discuss your scores on measures for depression, anxiety, and other areas depending on the situation.. in addition, I ask questions to help define your goals for treatment more deeply as they relate to the different areas of life. The session lasts about an hour and at the end I offer help with scheduling your next appointment and/ot explain how to self schedule your next appointment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I think that my strengths are similar to the aspects of my identity mentioned in an earlier section. They include being an open and assertive communicator, practicing what I teach in my personal life because mindfulness and cognitive skills are so essential for me. I am open and receptive, allowing each client the space to share their thoughts and feelings while also being comfortable redirecting when the situation calls for it. Having experienced a plethora of lived experiences I bring it all to the session as they experiences have become a part of the person and therapist that I am.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are thiose who are experiencing general or social anxiety, depression, may have a history of trauma., or fall into the neurodivergent category . In addition, I enjoy working with those who identify as POC as well as those who are in the LGBTQ+ Community.. Individuals who are open to and ready to take steps toward meaningful changes in their life, not just within the sessions we have. Lastly working with those who are fairly comfortable with technology, since I am a virtual based provider is important.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, short-term talk therapy. It is based on the simple idea that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. By changing how you think about a situation, you can change how you feel and act, even if the situation itself stays the same

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy designed to help people lean new mindfulness based skills to manage emotions. Its main goal is to teach you how to accept yourself while simultaneously building practical skills to manage difficult feelings and create positive changes

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a structured, 12-24 session talk therapy that helps people move past trauma. It isn’t about forcing you to relive the worst details. Instead, it teaches you how to identify, challenge, and change the negative or unhelpful beliefs the trauma caused so you can feel unstuck

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is the process of teaching you about how your brain and emotions work. It is like getting an "owner’s manual" for your mind. By learning exactly what happens when you experience certain symptoms, you can stop feeling confused and become an active expert in your own healing.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care shifts the focus from asking "What is wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" It means your care is built around safety, trust, and choice. Instead of traditional, rigid therapy, we will go at your pace, and you always have control over what we discuss and how we proceed
