New to Grow
Hello, and welcome. I am Alberto Tcah, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping adults navigate emotional challenges, life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and stress-related difficulties. I provide a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can feel safe exploring their thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. My therapeutic approach is individualized and evidence-based, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other supportive interventions to help clients build resilience, improve coping skills, and create meaningful emotional growth. I also have experience supporting caregivers and families coping with dementia and other medically related emotional challenges.
During your first session, we will begin by getting to know each other and discussing the concerns, challenges, or life situations that brought you to therapy. This initial meeting is an opportunity for you to share your experiences at your own pace in a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment. I will ask questions about your emotional well-being, personal history, current stressors, relationships, and goals for therapy so I can better understand your unique needs and develop an individualized treatment approach. We will also discuss what you hope to gain from therapy, answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process, and begin identifying practical strategies that can help support your emotional growth and well-being. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and more hopeful about the path forward.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my commitment to creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard and understood. I believe therapy should be individualized, collaborative, and respectful of each person’s unique life experiences, emotional challenges, and personal goals. My work combines evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a compassionate and person-centered approach that helps clients feel safe while developing practical tools for emotional growth and healing. I focus on helping individuals better understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while strengthening coping skills, emotional resilience, and self-awareness. Clients often appreciate my calm and approachable style, as well as my ability to help them navigate difficult emotions, life transitions, grief, trauma, caregiving stress, and medically related emotional challenges with greater clarity and confidence. My goal is not only to reduce symptoms, but also to help clients experience meaningful and lasting personal growth.
As a mental health therapist, I am best positioned to serve adults who are experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and difficult life transitions. I work particularly well with individuals facing changes related to aging, loss, relationship difficulties, caregiving responsibilities, chronic medical conditions, and major personal adjustments that can feel emotionally overwhelming. I am especially suited to helping clients who are seeking a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where they can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Many of the individuals I work with are motivated to better understand themselves, improve emotional balance, strengthen coping skills, and develop healthier ways of managing stress and interpersonal challenges. My practice is also well aligned with clients who value a collaborative and evidence-based approach to therapy. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other individualized interventions, I help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, increase resilience, improve emotional regulation, and move toward greater clarity, stability, and personal growth. In addition, I have experience supporting caregivers and family members coping with the emotional impact of dementia and other medical or neurological conditions, helping them navigate uncertainty, stress, grief, and complex family dynamics with greater confidence and support.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as an evidence-based and goal-oriented approach to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT allows individuals to identify negative or unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful behavioral changes that improve emotional well-being. Throughout my professional experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I have incorporated CBT in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress-related difficulties, and life transitions. My experience includes helping clients challenge self-defeating beliefs, reduce emotional distress, and strengthen practical coping skills in a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. In my practice, I tailor CBT interventions to each individual’s unique needs and life circumstances. I integrate cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, stress-management techniques, mindfulness strategies, and psychoeducation to help clients gain insight, improve emotional regulation, and achieve greater resilience and personal growth.
