I’m Jasmine - a therapist with almost 20 years experience working in a variety of settings with a passion for helping people feel like the best version of themselves. I completed my graduated studies in Social Work at CSU Long Beach in 2011 and have been licensed in California as a LCSW since 2016. I have also held a Board Certification in Clinical Social Work since 2017. After two decades as a clinical social worker, I still have a passion for mental wellness and heart healing. Thousands of hours of clinical care has taught me that as unique as humans are — we all share the desire to have healthy and fulfilling lives.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session you can expect it to be focused on completing psychosocial assessment — targeted questions about your life, background, and symptoms so that I can get to know you better. We will end the session identifying some goals you’d like to work on.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

After almost 20 years in the field I still enjoy meeting every new client and starting our therapeutic journey together. I ascribe to therapeutic humor and use of my authentic self as much as possible in my client interactions. Therapy can be fun(ny)! My methods, while often dependent on the presenting concerns, are often rooted in principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Logotherapy. I am known for challenging my clients both intellectually and experientially — to stretch their thoughts in new ways and to practice something new outside of session. I truly believe that psychotherapy is merely exercise for our mental health. The work you put into it will come back to you in the form of a more resilient mental health. I have a strong record of client satisfaction — and welcome clients who may have had disappointing experiences with previous therapeutic relationships.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My practice is exclusively for adult men. After years of working primarily with men it has been my honor to guide hundreds of men from chronic mental distress to a place of mental stability, peace, and confidence. Societal stigmas and cultural expectations continue to make it very challenging for men to seek supportive help, express vulnerability, or let go of the myth that having mental health concerns equals weakness. My practice is for men who are ready to do the work of reducing anxiety, depression, trauma, low-self esteem, emotional dysregulation, and even suicidal ideation. My clients typically appreciate my straight forward, often humorous, style of communication that encourages getting comfortable with life’s gray areas and “thinking about thinking”. Goal setting is never rigid and we always celebrate even the smallest wins. ALL men welcome. I am a LGTBQ+ affirming therapist.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)

CBT-SP is used in my practice as a guided method to identify cognitive challenges associated with suicidal ideations and related behaviors as a method focused on harm reduction and safety.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT for almost 20 years with most of my clients as a foundation and starting point for treatment. CBT can often help lay the groundwork for deeper understanding and meaning into one’s own thinking and behavior patterns that can be addressed in therapy in a more targeted manner.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

I use CBT-I for all clients with Insomnia which includes extensive lifestyle habits analysis and outside homework designed to address patterns and habits associated with poor sleep hygiene. The goal is to improve sleep satisfaction and sustain long term good sleeping habits without the reliance on sleep aids.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Although I am trained in several other methods, CPT is my preferred evidenced based practice to treat PTSD and other trauma-stressor related disorders. This CBT based treatment allows for in depth conversations in session without the pressure of having to retell one’s trauma story unless desired.
