Gloria Caardona
My passion for counseling comes from both my professional experience and my own life journey. Like many people, I have experienced seasons of loss, hardship, and uncertainty. Growing up in a home affected by abuse, alcoholism, and substance use taught me firsthand how deeply family dynamics can impact our emotional well-being. I have also experienced profound grief through the loss of my brother at a young age and, more recently, the loss of my father. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of having someone who truly listens and supports you through life's most difficult moments.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a relationship based on trust, respect, and open communication. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, so my goal is to create a comfortable, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can share at your own pace. During our first meeting, we'll talk about what brought you to counseling, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I'll also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, and strengths so I can better understand your unique experiences and develop a treatment plan that fits your needs. You don't need to have everything figured out before you come. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, experiencing anxiety, working through grief or relationship concerns, or simply feeling stuck, we'll work together to identify meaningful goals and take manageable steps toward them.
Strengths
My life experiences have taught me that healing looks different for everyone. Having faced my own challenges—including family dysfunction, grief, and significant life transitions—I understand how overwhelming it can feel to ask for help. Those experiences have deepened my empathy, but they have also strengthened my belief that people are incredibly resilient and capable of creating meaningful change. As a counselor, I strive to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, accepted, and respected. At the same time, I believe therapy should be more than just talking about problems. I will listen without judgment, but I will also gently challenge you when I see patterns, beliefs, or behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. My goal isn't to tell you what to do—it's to help you discover new perspectives, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that support lasting growth. Clients often find that my approach is both compassionate and honest. I'll meet you where you are, move at a pace that feels comfortable, and celebrate your progress along the way. I believe the best therapeutic relationships are built on trust, collaboration, and authenticity, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they work toward the life they want.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are adolescents, young adults, and adults who are ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. They may be experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, low self-esteem, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands of work, family, or everyday life. Many of my clients have spent years putting others first and are ready to invest in their own well-being. I also enjoy working with individuals who have experienced difficult family dynamics, childhood adversity, or significant life losses and are looking for healthier ways to move forward. Whether you're navigating a major life transition, learning to set boundaries, or working through patterns that no longer serve you, therapy can provide the support and tools needed to create lasting change. The clients I work best with are those who are open to self-reflection and willing to actively participate in the therapeutic process. You don't have to have all the answers or know exactly where to start—just a willingness to show up, be honest, and take small steps toward your goals. Together, we'll create a space where you feel supported, challenged when appropriate, and empowered to build the life you want. I believe therapy is a collaborative process. My role is to provide guidance, encouragement, practical tools, and a safe environment where you can explore your experiences without fear of judgment. We'll celebrate your progress, work through obstacles together, and focus on helping you develop the confidence and skills to navigate life's challenges long after therapy ends.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and practical. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Reality Therapy while integrating other evidence-based approaches to meet each client's individual needs. I don't believe therapy is one-size-fits-all. Together, we'll identify what works best for you, building on your strengths while developing new tools to help you manage life's challenges with greater confidence.
