(she/her)
I’m a psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience, dedicated to helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, and life’s challenges with clarity and compassion. I offer empathetic, thoughtful care tailored to your needs—whether that involves therapy, medication (excluding controlled substances), or both. All sessions are conducted via telepsychiatry for your convenience and privacy, allowing you to receive consistent, supportive care wherever you feel most comfortable and safe. My goal is to help you feel understood, empowered, and on a clear path toward lasting emotional wellness
Your first session with me typically lasts about 60 minutes, sometimes a bit longer if needed, just enough for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what’s been going on in your life, your goals, and any concerns you may have. By the end of the session, we’ll work together to develop a treatment plan that feels right for you—whether that includes medication, therapy, or both. If you prefer therapy only, that’s absolutely OK, and Grow can help connect you with a great therapist to support your journey
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is that I bring not only clinical experience, but deep personal understanding to the work I do. Having grown up with a mother who lived with undiagnosed bipolar disorder for decades, and having faced the physical and emotional challenges of being super morbidly obese—losing over 300 pounds myself—I understand how complex and overwhelming mental health struggles can be. I never forget my humanity in this work. My goal is simple: to meet you where you are and help you feel better, with care that’s both grounded and genuinely compassionate
My ideal fit patient is someone who values a thoughtful, collaborative, and safety‑focused approach to mental health care. They’re open to exploring evidence‑based treatment options, willing to communicate honestly, and invested in building long‑term stability rather than relying on quick‑acting medications that can carry significant risks. A core part of my practice philosophy is that I do not prescribe controlled substances—including benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Valium, Ativan) or stimulant medications for ADHD (such as Adderall or Ritalin). These medications can be highly addictive, and in a telehealth setting they are especially challenging to monitor safely. Because patient safety is my highest priority, I focus on non‑controlled medications and supportive therapeutic strategies that promote sustainable, long‑term wellbeing. My ideal fit patient understands and appreciates this approach. They’re open to safer alternatives, curious about different treatment pathways, and committed to working together to find what truly supports their mental health. This includes medication options that carry lower risk, lifestyle and behavioral strategies, and a collaborative relationship built on trust and transparency. Ultimately, the patients who thrive most in my care are those who want a provider who is careful, compassionate, and deeply committed to their long‑term health—and who value a treatment plan designed to support stability, safety, and meaningful progress.
Supportive
I regularly use general supportive therapy (together with medication management) as a core element of my psychiatric practice, particularly with patients who are in acute distress, have limited insight, or are dealing with chronic mental health challenges. My approach emphasizes strengthening the therapeutic alliance, promoting adaptive coping, and maintaining psychological stability. I use techniques such as active listening, reflection, encouragement, and reality testing to help patients process their emotions and maintain functioning. I don't prescribe controlled substances.

I’ve been seeing Dr.Scurry for a few months now and she genuinely has been THE best person to help with my mental health. Even when I wasn’t insured she would still check in on me; she is very patient, open-minded, and goes at your pace. She is very good about advocating for you when it comes to care and makes a difference every appointment in the best way possible.

Dr. Scurry is so warm and personable. I felt very comfortable sharing my struggles with her and she asked all the right questions to learn about me and what I was going through. She talked about all options, not just medication, and I feel so much better after our conversation. Thank you, Dr. Scurry!
