New to Grow
Therapy represents a space to heal from the things that weigh us down. Most of the time, our actions make perfect sense when you look at what we’ve been through. But sometimes, those same experiences and beliefs start to make life feel harder than it needs to be. As a therapist, I see my role as walking alongside people as they heal and grow into their most genuine, healthy selves. I work to create a space where you can express yourself freely and feel truly seen and heard. I’m especially interested in how you experience the world and how your mental health influences your day-to-day life.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, my main goal is simply to get to know you. I want to understand what matters most to you, how you move through life, and what brought you to therapy.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
So much of what I do as a therapist is based on my understanding of people as incredibly complex. I believe there is a reason why people do what they do. Before I can begin to work with someone on some of the deeper issues they bring to therapy, I know that I first need to have a clear sense of this person's individual context for life.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My favorite clients to work with have come from a range of backgrounds. Some were in their seventies and eighties. Some had to be dropped off to therapy by their parents. Some came to our sessions incredibly motivated to do the work of healing. Some had been ordered by a judge to complete a certain number of therapy sessions, and were extremely guarded when we first started meeting.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps people explore the relationship between their current automatic thoughts, and how they respond in various situations.
EMDR
Through the use of EMDR, I help people process past traumatic experiences, and gradually move away from the negative beliefs which they had about themselves.
Motivational Interviewing
I use MI to help people explore their current attitudes toward making some form of a change in their lives.
