New to Grow
“You cannot heal what you do not first acknowledge.” — Richard Rohr Reaching out for therapy takes courage, and I’m glad you’re here. Life brings challenges, transitions, and unexpected stressors that can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, you don’t have to navigate them alone. In our work together, we will explore patterns that may be contributing to ongoing distress, identify unhealthy thinking styles, and develop healthier perspectives and behaviors. I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate environment where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we will work collaboratively to build practical coping strategies, identify goals, strengthen communication skills, and process past hurts, struggles or traumas that may be impacting your daily life. My approach is supportive, goal-oriented, and grounded in helping you create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we will focus on strengthening coping and communication skills while creating a path toward healing.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
With over two decades of experience, I bring a depth of knowledge, compassion, and practical therapeutic skills to the counseling process. With my approach, the goal is to help you restructure thinking, to improve your overall quality of life and move toward a healthier, more balanced version of yourself.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have worked with juveniles, veterans and their families, seniors, and individuals of all ages in outpatient settings, the community and private practice. I specialize in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, job stress, relationship concerns, anger management, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. The idea is that sometimes our thoughts can become negative or unhelpful, which can affect how we feel and what we do. In CBT, we work together to identify those patterns and learn healthier ways of thinking and responding. CBT helps people: Recognize unhelpful thoughts Challenge and replace them with more balanced thoughts Change behaviors that may be making problems worse Develop practical coping skills
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
The goal of DBT is to help you build a life that feels more stable, balanced, and meaningful. In DBT, you will learn skills in four main areas: • Mindfulness – staying present and aware • Distress Tolerance – coping with difficult moments • Emotion Regulation – understanding and managing feelings • Interpersonal Effectiveness – improving communication and relationships
Compassion Focused
I am dedicated to creating a supportive and empowering environment where you feel heard, understood, and equipped with tools to improve your mental and emotional well-being.
Interpersonal
The goal of IPT is to help you improve communication, strengthen relationships, and navigate difficult life changes. When relationships improve, emotional well-being often improves as well. In IPT, we often focus on areas such as: Relationship conflicts Major life changes (like divorce, retirement, or becoming a parent) Grief and loss Difficulty building or maintaining relationships Together, we work on understanding relationship patterns, improving communication skills, and finding healthier ways to connect with others. The main objective is to help you feel more supported, understood, and emotionally balanced in your relationships.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that helps you find your own motivation to make positive changes. Instead of telling you what to do, I will help you explore your feelings about change, including any uncertainty or mixed emotions. Motivational Interviewing focuses on: Listening without judgment Asking open-ended questions Helping people identify their own reasons for change Strengthening confidence and commitment to change The goal is to help you feel empowered to make decisions that support your goals, health, and well-being.
