Hi, my name is MaryJane. I have been working in psychiatry since 2018. I have worked in a variety of settings including: inpatient, home health, long-term care, outpatient, and tele-health. I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I offer medication management and also talk-therapy. I have a passion for working to help and educate those along their journey to mental health wellness.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During an initial consultation, the client should reserve at least one hour. Prior to an first appointment it is helpful for clients to complete all the necessary forms and screeners ahead of the appointment. During the session, time will be spent gathering information on personal history, symptoms, and current impact on life - to name a few topics. A diagnosis, or “working diagnosis”, is typically able to be provided at the time of consultation and treatment options can be discussed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I strive to create an open environment to work towards better health outcomes. This includes treating each client as an individual and adopting a plan geared towards their needs. I aim to provide warmth, comfort, and reality into my sessions.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am accepting new clients for tele-health appointments. I provide medication management for: anxiety disorders including OCD, depression, bipolar, and/or ADHD. I have after-hour appointments and Saturday availability.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a counseling technique designed to assist individuals in overcoming ambivalence and boosting their motivation to make positive changes. The method emphasizes empathetic listening. I incorporate this by engaging in a non-judgmental manner, asking open-ended questions, and reflecting on the client’s responses. This approach helps the client to explore and articulate their own reasons for change, facilitating a deeper personal commitment to the desired outcome.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a method where the provider ensures that clients are fully informed about every aspect of their care. I practice this method by offering transparent care, educating clients on their treatment options and the reasoning behind them. It may also include educating clients' loved ones about conditions and treatments to foster a supportive environment. My goal is to empower clients with knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions and actively participate in their treatment process.
