As a third culture kid, I had multiple experiences of being foreign, an oddity, and having to find how I could adapt to fit in with each scenario. Through living in different countries, societies, socio-economic statuses, taking on differing roles, speaking different languages; I was able to comprehend differing viewpoints and the ways that language and experience can filter understanding. It has inspired my voracious appetite for knowledge, fed my desire to explore therapy as a tool for assisting those that, like me, are oddities in their settings.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I believe you are the expert on yourself, and together, we can work on reconnecting to that "you" at your best. At times, we lose sight of ourselves; we take on too much, we skip meals, sacrifice sleep, and simply don't take care of ourselves. We lose our connection to our innate "superpowers" and we need to reset, reboot and restart. Together, we will address self-care, sleep hygiene, mindfulness, boundary setting, and exploring increasing wellness in your life so you can heal, grow and blossom.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

We will focus on skills work, creating routines and making active changes to tackle barriers to self care. This may mean assertive communication, healthy boundary setting, reconnecting to your support networks and finding a path that more reflects your core values and cultural beliefs.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I often work with clients in transition. Whether it's loss, work/school or relationships, there is a need to get grounded and reconnected in your core self. I love to work with clients that are insightful and motivated to start making changes and want to feel better. We will focus on sleep hygiene, self care, work life balance, healthy boundaries, setting limits, assertive communication, reciprocal relationships and increasing joyfulness. My clients are people of color, immigrants, high achievers, caretakers, and leaders.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

A breakdown of schemas, core beliefs, automatic thoughts, self talk and restructuring cognitive distortions. Building out structured skills, practicing, brainstorming, weekly homework and actively making changes.

Multicultural

Managing the immigrant experience with acculturation. The 3rd culture view, code switching, translating from high context cultural values to low context cultural values and respecting the values of both. Delineating healthy boundaries and respecting hierarchies and traditions. Balancing the "Utang na loob", the filial piety, and the self.
