Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite like yourself? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it on your own. As a doctoral-prepared psychiatric nurse practitioner, I help individuals regain control of their mental health and start feeling like themselves again. I specialize in ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance use disorders, providing personalized, evidence-based care tailored to your unique needs. Whether you’re seeking clarity, stability, or relief, I offer a comprehensive approach that includes thorough assessments, therapy, and medication management when appropriate. My style is collaborative, supportive, and focused on real results. Using motivational interviewing, I help you tap into your strengths, build confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change—not just temporary relief. If you’re ready to feel more balanced, focused, and in control of your life, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
In your first session with me, the focus is on building a foundation of trust and understanding. Here's what you can expect: 1. Introductions and Setting Expectations We’ll start by getting to know each other. I’ll explain my role as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, how I approach care, and what you can expect from treatment. I’ll encourage you to share any goals or concerns you have for this session or for your overall care. 2. Gathering Your History I’ll ask about your mental health, medical history, substance use, and any past treatments you’ve tried. This helps me get a comprehensive picture of your situation. If you’re comfortable, we’ll also discuss your current challenges, triggers, and support systems. 3. Assessment I may ask questions to understand your symptoms, mood, thought patterns, and daily functioning. This might include discussing how you’ve been sleeping, eating, and managing stress. 4. Collaborative Planning Together, we’ll develop an initial treatment plan. This could involve therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches. If medication is an option, I’ll explain why it’s being recommended, potential side effects, and answer any questions. 5. Addressing Immediate Needs If you’re in crisis or have pressing concerns, we’ll address those first. 6. Q&A and Next Steps I’ll provide time for you to ask questions, share feedback, or clarify anything about the process. We’ll outline next steps, including scheduling follow-up appointments or connecting with additional resources if needed. What You Should Bring Any relevant medical or psychiatric records. A list of medications you’re currently taking. Your questions, concerns, and goals for treatment. The first session is just the beginning of a collaborative journey toward your well-being. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and supported every step of the way.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to build trusting relationships with clients, my compassionate and non-judgmental approach, and my expertise in treating substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I also specialize in using motivational interviewing, which helps clients feel empowered to make positive changes. Additionally, my strong focus on individualized care allows me to develop treatment plans that are specifically tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.
I am dedicated to serving vulnerable populations experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, neurocognitive disorders, attention-deficit disorders, sleep disorders, anger management concerns, eating disorders, and weight management challenges. At this time, I do not prescribe controlled substances outside of the state of Florida. I offer pharmacogenetic testing to help guide medication selection based on genetic compatibility, as well as QB testing to support accurate ADHD diagnosis and assessment of symptom severity.
Motivational Interviewing
In my experience, MI is valuable because it respects the client’s autonomy while guiding them toward their own reasons for change. I use it to help clients move from indecision or resistance to readiness for action, especially when they might be hesitant or unsure about the need for treatment. MI involves key strategies, such as: Open-Ended Questions: Encouraging clients to explore their thoughts and feelings without being led in a specific direction. For example, "What are your thoughts about continuing treatment?" helps uncover ambivalence. Affirmations: Reinforcing the client’s strengths and efforts, like saying, "It sounds like you’ve put in a lot of effort to get to this point," which builds confidence. Reflective Listening: This involves summarizing or paraphrasing what the client has said to show understanding, such as, "It sounds like you’re concerned about how alcohol affects your relationships, but also hesitant to give it up completely."
