Marie Mehta-Pintard

PMHNP1 year of experience

I’m a down-to-earth, compassionate psychiatric provider who believes in keeping it real while creating a safe, judgment-free space for children, adolescents, and adults. I take a whole-person approach to mental health, looking beyond symptoms to understand each person’s experiences, environment, relationships, and unique needs.

I meet clients where they are, offering support and understanding while also gently challenging them when appropriate to encourage self-awareness, growth, and positive change.

My approach combines individualized medication management, psychotherapy, and holistic strategies when appropriate. I also believe cultural background, family dynamics, and personal values are essential to developing meaningful treatment goals. My goal is to meet you where you are, work collaboratively toward realistic goals, and help you build resilience, improve well-being, and create lasting, positive change.

First session

Your first session is an opportunity to feel heard, ask questions, and begin building a partnership focused on your mental health and well-being. You can expect a welcoming, judgment-free space where you can share your concerns at your own pace. We will discuss what brings you to care, your current challenges, personal and family history when relevant, and the goals you hope to achieve. I take a thorough, whole-person approach, recognizing that your experiences, relationships, culture, and daily stressors can all influence your mental health. Together, we will begin identifying your needs and exploring an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, psychotherapy, and holistic strategies when appropriate. I believe in collaboration, so your questions, preferences, and input matter. You do not need to have all the answers or know exactly where to start. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling listened to, better understood, and with a clearer sense of the next steps toward feeling better. We will take it one step at a time, together.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths is creating a comfortable, judgment-free space where clients feel safe to speak openly and honestly about their concerns. I take the time to ask thoughtful questions, listen without assumptions, and understand the person behind the symptoms. I believe a thorough psychiatric evaluation is essential to developing an individualized treatment plan that reflects each client’s unique needs, experiences, and goals. My approach is both compassionate and collaborative. I meet clients where they are, offering support and understanding while also gently challenging them when appropriate to encourage self-awareness, growth, and positive change. I recognize that effective treatment is not one-size-fits-all, and I value each client’s perspective, cultural background, and personal experiences when making recommendations. Whether through medication management, psychotherapy, or holistic strategies, my goal is to work alongside each client to identify practical solutions, build resilience, and help them feel empowered in their mental health journey.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults, who are ready to explore their mental health, better understand themselves, and work toward meaningful change. Whether navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood concerns, behavioral challenges, life transitions, or everyday stressors, I welcome individuals who are seeking support, guidance, and a collaborative approach to their well-being. You do not have to know exactly what you need or have all the answers to begin. You simply need a willingness to show up and take things one step at a time. I understand that everyone's journey is different, and progress looks different for each person. I strive to create a space where clients and families feel comfortable being honest about their struggles without fear of judgment. Together, we can explore your concerns, identify your strengths, and develop an individualized plan that may include medication management, psychotherapy, and holistic approaches when appropriate. I also value cultural identity, family dynamics, and personal experiences as important parts of the healing process. My goal is to meet each client where they are and help them move toward greater understanding, resilience, and lasting well-being.

Origin story

My journey to becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner began with a deep interest in understanding people and the experiences that shape their lives. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida in 2003, I spent several years working in mental health before becoming a registered nurse. Throughout my nursing career, I found myself drawn to psychiatric care, recognizing that mental health is inseparable from overall well-being. Even while working on medical units, I witnessed patients struggling with stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life circumstances that profoundly affected both their mental and physical health. Too often, their emotional needs took a back seat to their immediate medical concerns, and they left the hospital without the support needed to address the underlying challenges impacting their well-being. I also witnessed healthcare professionals silently struggling with their own mental health, often putting the needs of others before their own. These experiences profoundly shaped my purpose. I realized that people need more than a diagnosis or a prescription; they need to feel heard, understood, and supported without fear of judgment. I became a PMHNP because I wanted to help bridge that gap—to create a safe space where individuals feel empowered to address their mental health, understand themselves more deeply, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. For me, this work is more than a profession; it is a calling to help people feel seen, restore hope, and recognize that their mental health matters just as much as their physical health.

Ongoing work together

Our ongoing work together will focus on helping you achieve greater psychiatric stability, improve your daily functioning, and develop the tools needed to maintain lasting mental wellness. We will meet consistently to monitor symptoms, assess treatment effectiveness, address challenges, and adjust your individualized plan as needed. Depending on your needs, treatment may incorporate medication management, psychotherapy, coping skills, lifestyle changes, and holistic approaches to support your overall well-being. I believe progress is a collaborative process, and it may look different for everyone. You may begin to notice improved mood, more manageable anxiety, better sleep, healthier relationships, increased confidence, or a greater ability to navigate everyday stressors. We will regularly revisit your goals, celebrate your progress, and address setbacks without judgment. My approach combines compassionate listening with honest conversations and gentle challenges when needed to encourage growth and self-awareness. My goal is not simply to help you feel better in the moment, but to work alongside you toward sustained psychiatric stability, improved quality of life, and greater confidence in managing your mental health. Through consistency, collaboration, and an approach that respects your individual needs and cultural background, we will build a treatment plan that grows with you throughout your journey.

Treatment methods

Supportive

I use supportive therapy to create a safe, compassionate, and judgment-free space where clients feel comfortable expressing their thoughts, emotions, and concerns. My approach is down-to-earth and collaborative, allowing clients to speak openly while I provide active listening, validation, encouragement, and practical guidance. I help clients identify their strengths, develop healthy coping strategies, manage stress, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence. When appropriate, I also gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns and encourage self-reflection to promote personal growth. I tailor my approach to each client's developmental stage, individual needs, and cultural background, recognizing that children, adolescents, and adults may express and process their emotions differently. Supportive therapy may be integrated with medication management and other therapeutic approaches to help clients build resilience, improve daily functioning, and achieve greater psychiatric stability and overall well-being.
