I look forward to working with you and creating an individualized plan to work toward your gioals.

Strengths

As a professional counselor and therapist, I view my role as an opportunity to offer presence and hope to others as they embark on the journey of fearlessly discovering who they are created to be. I enjoy utilizing a strengths based approach to encourage clients to utilize their currently available resources while continuing to grow and enhance their support systems and available tools. I believe as your therapist, part of my role is to empower you and aid in building insight and confidence around utilizing new skills to improve the relationships and the world around you.

Ideal clients

My clients range in age from 12 years old and above. With my teenage clients, we work significantly on building rapport to work toward unpacking current life stressors, like finding where they belong while communicating themselves effectively. With my adult population, we work through a variety of stressors, including navigating different transitions from college to the work force, or from singleness to married and possibly becoming parents, or other life stressors. I enjoy working with a variety of clients and assisting them in navigating their needs with a big focus on the therapeutic relationship to ensure all clients feel safe in the counseling room to be their authentic selves.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps to challenge negative thoughts people believe about themselves. Sometimes this may include also looking at the way clients perceive events and interactions, and sometimes the way they talk to themselves.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I utilized person centered approaches in all sessions because as the client, you play a HUGE part in the counseling process. Seeing that every person is their own individual and people can walk away from events or experiences with severely different notions and ideas, I believe a person centered approach ensure that my clients get individualized treatment that is specific to them and their needs.

Narrative

Narrative therapy intertwines well with Reality Therapy and CBT to which I work with my clients to examine the stories they communicate to themselves after different experiences and interactions. With this information, my clients consider potential biases in their stories and how to address and create healthier understandings.

Faith-based therapy

As clients request and if it is in accordance with their values, I can incorporate faith based principles and assist in consider the role of faith in their lives, as well as encouraging clients to reflect on the impact of their faith in various facets.
