Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session you can expect a therapist who is truly curious about your current situation and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. You can talk about as much or as little as you would like. Claire believes that the first session is for you to get to know your therapist, share what you are experiencing, and be asked questions that will support your healing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a person who has been in recovery from alcohol for 8 years, Claire understands how mental health impacts the choices we make every day. Claire believes people can benefit a lot from processing, and that people want to know what they can do to better their situation and build a life worth living. Using DBT and ACT, Claire will present a variety of activities and challenges for you to practice in your normal everyday life that are simple and uncomplicated. Claires greatest skills is learning about what your limits, challenges, and barriers are and offering options for you to try out in your daily life. Claire strives to make these options accessible and easy to apply, so you don't feel more overwhelmed while you are trying to better your situation. Claire will constantly check in with you about how you feel about your progress, and wants to provide information or options that fit your style and needs.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a skills based approach. This method includes increasing mindfulness skills, interpersonal skills, and understanding emotions. DBT has real skills that most people find to be easy to implement and produce meaningful change very quickly.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is designed to increase acceptance and identify areas where commitment is helpful. ACT promotes flexibility in how we see the world.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy is more gentle approach where we will process the many different types of thoughts and emotions that come up when we experience a loss. Claire promotes a safe and understanding environment for you to say the thoughts that are too difficult to manage alone.
