I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with nearly a decade of experience in psychiatric and emergency mental health care. Throughout my career, I have worked in inpatient psychiatry, psychiatric emergency services, crisis stabilization, and outpatient settings, caring for children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of mental health conditions. My approach to treatment is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe that every person deserves to be heard, understood, and treated with respect. I take time to understand each client’s unique experiences, challenges, strengths, and goals in order to develop a treatment plan that fits their needs and lifestyle. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapeutic interventions to help clients better understand their mental health, build coping skills, and achieve meaningful progress. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, stress, or life transitions, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable discussing your concerns and actively participating in your treatment. I am committed to helping my clients improve their emotional well-being, strengthen resilience, and work toward lasting mental wellness.

First session

During your first appointment, we will discuss what brings you to treatment. I will conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which includes reviewing your current symptoms, mental health history, medical history, medications, family history, and any personal or life experiences that may be affecting your emotional well-being. This initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share your concerns, and discuss your treatment goals. Together, we will explore potential diagnoses, discuss treatment options, and develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapeutic interventions, lifestyle recommendations, or referrals to additional resources when appropriate. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and understood. By the end of the session, you should have a clearer understanding of your symptoms, treatment recommendations, and the next steps in your care. I encourage clients to be open and honest during the evaluation, as this helps ensure the most accurate assessment and effective treatment plan. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of the process, and I look forward to partnering with you on your mental health journey.

Strengths

My approach stands out because I combine extensive psychiatric experience with a compassionate, patient-centered style of care. Having worked in psychiatric inpatient units, crisis stabilization, emergency psychiatry, and outpatient settings, I have experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions across the lifespan and understand the unique challenges individuals face at different stages of life. I believe effective treatment goes beyond simply prescribing medication. I take a collaborative approach, partnering with clients to understand their symptoms, personal experiences, strengths, and goals. I integrate evidence-based medication management with therapeutic techniques to help clients develop practical skills and achieve lasting improvement. Clients often appreciate that I take the time to listen, explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly, and create individualized treatment plans rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. My goal is to ensure that every client feels heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their care. Whether someone is seeking help for anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, or life stressors, I strive to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where they can feel comfortable discussing concerns and working toward meaningful, sustainable change.

Ideal clients

I work with adolescents and adults seeking compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care. My ideal clients are individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, stress, life transitions, and other mental health challenges that interfere with their daily functioning and quality of life. Many of my clients are motivated to better understand themselves, improve emotional well-being, and develop practical strategies to manage symptoms and achieve their personal goals. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who value a collaborative approach to treatment and are interested in combining medication management with therapeutic interventions

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques into treatment by helping clients identify negative thinking patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop healthier coping skills. My approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on helping clients make meaningful changes in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while working toward their treatment goals.

Interpersonal

I help clients develop healthier communication skills, strengthen social supports, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and adapt to life changes while integrating these interventions with medication management.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I provide culturally sensitive and inclusive mental health care that recognizes the impact of culture, ethnicity, language, family values, religion, socioeconomic factors, gender identity, and life experiences on emotional well-being. I strive to understand each client’s unique background and perspective, creating a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and understood. Treatment plans are individualized and developed collaboratively to align with each client’s values, beliefs, strengths, and goals.

Motivational Interviewing

I incorporate Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change. Rather than directing clients what to do, I use a collaborative, nonjudgmental approach that helps them identify their own goals, values, and motivations. Through reflective listening, open-ended questions, and supportive guidance, I help clients build confidence, strengthen commitment to change, and take meaningful steps toward improved mental health and overall well-being. Areas I use Motivational Interviewing include * Medication adherence * Substance use and recovery * Lifestyle changes and self-care * Managing anxiety and depression * Improving treatment engagement * Building healthy coping skills * Increasing motivation for therapy * Addressing resistance to change I use techniques that include * Open-ended questions * Reflective listening * Affirmations and strengths-based feedback * Exploring ambivalence * Developing discrepancy between current behaviors and personal goals * Supporting self-efficacy and confidence * Collaborative goal setting

Psychoeducation

I believe that understanding one’s mental health condition is an important part of recovery. I incorporate psychoeducation into treatment by helping clients gain a better understanding of their diagnoses, symptoms, treatment options, medications, and coping strategies. I provide clear, evidence-based information in a supportive and approachable manner, empowering clients to make informed decisions about their care and actively participate in their treatment. My goal is to help clients develop the knowledge and skills needed to manage symptoms, prevent relapse, and improve overall functioning.
