Hi! I’m Alexis. I am a mom, wife, adjunct professor, and therapist. When I am not working, I enjoy being surrounded by family. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Kentucky and my Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Healthcare Studies from Ohio University. I am trauma informed and am trained in multiple trauma informed modalities including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Integrative Treatment for Complex Trauma, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Building a relationship in therapy is very important. I will work to create a safe, empathetic, and validating space to work together. My goal is to create a safe environment for clients to feel heard, supported, and challenged.
In the intake session, I will gather information regarding past history, challenges, barriers, strengths, and what brings you to therapy with me. We will determine together a treatment plan and goals in which you identify you want to work on. My goal is to create a safe environment for clients to feel heard, supported, and challenged.
As a therapist trained in EMDR, I bring more than just a technique—I offer a trauma-informed, compassionate space where healing happens at your pace. I combine EMDR with empathy, insight, and a deep understanding of how trauma lives in both the mind and body. What makes me different is my ability to integrate EMDR into a broader, personalized approach—whether you’re dealing with complex trauma, anxiety, or life transitions. I meet you where you are, and we work together to help you move forward with strength, clarity, and empowerment. Let’s regulate your nervous system!
As a therapist, my ideal client is someone who is open to therapy and willing to engage in the therapeutic process, even if they feel uncertain or hesitant at first. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, stress, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Their goals identifying past trauma and moving towards healthy relationships and life!
In sessions, we guide you through gentle eye movements or tapping while focusing on specific memories, reducing their emotional impact over time. EMDR supports deep healing, helping you move forward with clarity, confidence, and relief. First, we will identify your targets together. Then, we will regulate your nervous system to ensure you are ready to reprocess your trauma.
I use CBT in sessions by helping clients identify negative beliefs, thought patterns, and to help recognize connections of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Sessions are tailored to your unique needs, helping you process trauma at your own pace while building safety, emotional regulation, and self-understanding. This approach allows us to meet you where you are—and grow from there.
Using MI in sessions to help uncover your own reasons for change by exploring your goals, values, and the barriers holding you back. I will use open conversation, reflective listening, and nonjudgmental support, we work together to build motivation and confidence so you can move forward feeling empowered and in control of your journey.
