Manzetta L. Jackson, Ph.D.
Personal Statement Since attending therapy is an implicit admission of imperfections for most people, my approach to counseling is person-centered and collaborative. Once the therapeutic alliance has been established, this approach allows clients to express their emotional reactions, develop more productive ways of dealing with feelings, and increase their levels of understanding and awareness. My counseling philosophy is to provide support, education, feedback and treatment that inspires clients to successfully take appropriate actions that will assist with solving their problems. Therapist qualities that I utilize include, but are not limited to, mutual respect, authenticity, genuineness, integrity, and the ability to empathize.
First session
My counseling focus includes family conflict, anxiety, depression, relationships, divorce, bereavement, unemployment, gambling, sexual abuse, crime, and individuals from diverse cultures. You learn how to increase your level of self-awareness, commitment to change and help you handle problems you may have thought were beyond your control. I can help you get ready to begin your journey to a new way of living-one that is filled with purpose, joy, and excitement, and peace
Strengths
I collaborate with clients to develop plans which clarify acceptable evidence for change. It is not that anyone desires to feel bad; it's that people don't always see ways to feel better.
