New to Grow
I began my career as a social worker, working with families that had children placed in foster care. I was a reunification worker working with parents to reunite them with their children. I have been providing counseling services since 2009 both in private practice and the community mental health field. Over the past nine years I have worked with a population considered to be the most chronically mentally ill clients with a diagnosis of Schizoaffective Disorder, Schizophrenia, or Bipolar Disorder.
During the first session, we will get to know each other and work to build a common ground of respect and trust.
I believe my greatest strength is my ability to listen with an open mind that allows me to provide insight and empathy that allows you to grow in your understanding of you.
My approach is centered on what works for you as the client. I foster open communication through non-judgmental dialogue that allows you to feel understood. I work to develop a relaxed, trusting relationship with my clients that allows you to develop effective coping skills and resolve the issues that brought you to counseling. I use a client-centered approach to setting goals. You are the expert on you, what works for you, or what you feel won't work for you. We will develop goals together based on what you need.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have worked with clients diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, Trauma, and other mood disorders.
Couples Counseling
I have worked with many couples experiencing difficulties in their relationship. My methods are based on Gottman trainings and my work with numerous couples over the years.
