New to Grow
My name is Megan Hunter, LCSW, and I bring 10 years of experience in counseling to my work with children, adolescents, and adults facing a wide range of challenges. I hold a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. My background includes serving as a community, school, and hospital social worker, allowing me to support clients in diverse settings and across many stages of life. I strive to create a compassionate, supportive environment where clients feel empowered to grow and heal.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, you can expect a calm, welcoming space where we get to know each other and begin exploring what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, your background, and your goals so I can better understand how to support you. We’ll move at your pace, and there’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready. By the end of the session, we’ll work together to identify your priorities and outline a plan for how we can move forward in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful for you
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my ability to create a warm, grounded, and collaborative environment where clients feel genuinely heard and supported. I blend evidence-based methods—such as CBT—with a compassionate, person-centered style, helping clients build practical skills while also deepening insight into their thoughts and emotions. My clients often share that they appreciate my balance of empathy and gentle challenge, as well as the clear, actionable steps we develop together to create lasting, meaningful change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to serve individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or stress related to school, work, or family dynamics. I work well with clients who are ready to explore their thoughts and emotions, build insight, and actively engage in the therapeutic process. My approach is supportive and collaborative, making me a good fit for those seeking a safe space to gain clarity, develop coping skills, and move toward meaningful personal growth
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in my practice to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, examine the evidence behind them, and develop more balanced ways of thinking that support healthier emotions and behaviors.
