I hold dual board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and an Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-C). I have a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) and have completed evidence-based research in the effective techniques of de-escalation. I have spent the last twenty years working in the mental health field with most of those years spent in the acute mental health setting and outpatient setting. My dual certification allows me to effectively treat the patient as a whole, both mentally and physically. My passion and love for my patients and the field of mental health is evident from the first interaction.
In our first session together, the focus is to get to know the individual personally then dive into their current situation before expanding to determine what are the contributing factors that have contributed to the current crisis. This will help me to formulate a patient-specific treatment plan.
Having worked with adult and child/adolescent individuals with mental illness, my greatest strength as a provider is I listen attentively and observe. My strengths have enabled me to effectively treat clients based on their individual symptoms and needs. I promise to be there for you every step of your healing journey. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. I encourage you to "Heal at your own pace".
Clients sometimes feel that no one is listening and so they enter into a provider/client relationship already with this mindset. My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a comprehensive service. I listen to your concerns and customize a treatment plan that is specific to your individual needs.
Psychoeducation is the process of teaching clients with mental illness about the nature of the illness, including its etiology, progression, consequences, prognosis, treatment, and alternatives. This is provided during every visit.
I formulate an appropriate individualized treatment plan which centers on a patient's demographic factors such as race, ethnicity, and gender identity. These factors play a critical role in how someone experiences the world and relates to others.
