Ariel Del Valle, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, a double board-certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner.
I focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and understood, while working together to achieve emotional stability, improved functioning, and a better quality of life.
First session
During your first session, we will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where I take time to understand your concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, and personal goals. This is a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing openly. Together, we will begin developing a personalized treatment plan, which may include psychotherapy, medication management, or both. My goal is for you to leave the session feeling heard, understood, and with a clear path forward.
Strengths
My greatest strengths include my ability to truly listen and build strong therapeutic relationships, creating a safe and nonjudgmental space for patients. I combine evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy to provide a well-rounded, individualized approach to care. My dual training in psychiatry and primary care allows me to treat the whole person, addressing both mental and physical health. I am goal-oriented, collaborative, and focused on helping patients achieve meaningful, lasting improvement in their symptoms and overall quality of life. I strive to empower patients through education, shared decision-making, and personalized treatment plans that align with their values, goals, and unique life experiences.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to serve adolescents, adults, and older adults who are motivated to improve their mental health and overall quality of life. My ideal clients may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, or mood disorders and are seeking clarity, stability, and effective coping strategies. I work well with individuals who are open to a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that combines psychotherapy and medication management. Whether facing new challenges or long-standing conditions, I support patients in building resilience, improving functioning, and achieving meaningful, lasting change.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
I use motivational interviewing to help patients explore and resolve ambivalence toward change. Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, and collaboration, I guide patients to identify their own goals and strengthen intrinsic motivation. This approach is especially effective in improving treatment engagement and adherence.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT to help patients identify and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. By restructuring maladaptive beliefs and developing healthier coping strategies, patients can improve mood, behavior, and daily functioning. CBT is a structured, goal-oriented approach that produces measurable and lasting results.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness techniques to help patients increase awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without judgment. I teach practical skills such as breathing exercises, grounding techniques, and present-moment awareness to reduce anxiety, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall well-being.
