Keri Stinnett

LISW-CP1 year of experience

I understand what it feels like to carry the weight of caring for family, managing work, nurturing relationships, and trying to hold everything together while feeling disconnected from yourself.

You’re Taking Care of Everyone Else—Let’s Make Space for You.

My goal is to help clients navigate life’s challenges by providing practical, evidence-based strategies to recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves. With nearly six years of experience in the mental health field and almost two years as a Licensed Independent Social Worker–Clinical Practice (LISW-CP), I strive to create a supportive, compassionate space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

First session

My hope is that clients leave their first session feeling hopeful, understood, and reassured that they do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone. I want them to know that negative thought patterns, fears, anxiety, and uncertainty can change, and that a more balanced and fulfilling life is possible. Most of all, I want clients to feel as though they can finally take a deep breath, let their guard down, and have someone in their corner who will support them as they work through life’s challenges. My goal is to create a space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to better understand their emotions, develop healthier ways of coping, and recognize that they do not have to carry everything on their own.

Strengths

One of the strengths I bring to therapy is the ability to meet clients where they are, offering a safe, supportive space to explore their experiences at their own pace while providing gentle encouragement when they are ready to take the next step. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs, experiences, and goals. I incorporate evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy, to help clients gain insight, develop healthy coping strategies, build confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to empower clients to recognize their strengths, navigate life’s challenges, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are those who are trying to manage it all—caring for their families, working full time, managing household responsibilities, and keeping up with the demands of everyday life while often putting their own needs last. I enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety, navigating major life transitions, women moving through menopause and other midlife changes, and young adults adjusting to the challenges and uncertainties of a new stage of life. I work best with clients who are open to growth, willing to explore new perspectives, and ready to take meaningful steps toward change. Therapy can be challenging at times, and I encourage clients to look honestly at the thought patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to their anxiety, fear, and feelings of being overwhelmed. Together, we work to develop healthier coping strategies, build confidence, and create a more balanced life where their own well-being becomes a priority rather than an afterthought.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Sometimes, the way we think about a situation can increase our anxiety, fear, or feelings of being overwhelmed. Together, we will identify unhelpful thought patterns, explore whether those thoughts are accurate or helpful, and learn how to replace them with more balanced and realistic perspectives. In our sessions, we will look at real-life situations that trigger stress or anxiety and explore how your thoughts influence the way you feel and respond. I will help you develop practical tools to challenge negative thinking, manage overwhelming emotions, and make choices that support your well-being. You may also practice these skills between sessions so you can begin applying what you learn to everyday life. My goal is to help you recognize that while you cannot always control what happens around you, you can learn to respond to situations in ways that reduce anxiety, build confidence, and help you feel more in control of your life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients better understand and manage their emotions, cope with stress, and navigate difficult situations in healthier ways. When life feels overwhelming, it can be difficult to slow down, think clearly, and respond in a way that reflects who we want to be. DBT helps you develop practical skills to manage intense emotions, tolerate distress, stay present in the moment, and communicate your needs more effectively. In our sessions, we will explore how you respond to stressful situations and identify tools you can use when emotions feel difficult to manage. Together, we will work on recognizing emotional triggers, responding rather than reacting, setting healthy boundaries, and navigating challenging relationships. You will learn skills you can practice in everyday life to help you feel more grounded, improve your relationships, and approach difficult situations with greater confidence. My goal is to help you understand that you can acknowledge your feelings and experiences while also learning new ways to respond to them. Change takes time, and you do not have to navigate it perfectly. We will work together to build skills that help you feel more balanced, resilient, and capable of managing life's challenges.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore what they want to change in their lives and discover the motivation and confidence to take steps toward those changes. Sometimes, we know we want things to be different but feel stuck, uncertain, or overwhelmed about where to begin. You may feel torn between wanting change and feeling comfortable with what is familiar, even when it no longer serves you. In our sessions, I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings, values, and goals without judgment or pressure. Together, we will identify what matters most to you, recognize the strengths you already have, and work through the doubts or fears that may be holding you back. Rather than telling you what you should do, I will help you find your own reasons for change and identify realistic, manageable steps that feel right for you. My goal is to help you feel empowered to make decisions that align with your values and the life you want to create. Change does not have to happen all at once. We will work at a pace that feels manageable while building the confidence and motivation you need to move forward.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I incorporate mindfulness-based techniques to help clients slow down, become more aware of their thoughts and emotions, and feel more grounded in the present moment. When life feels overwhelming, it is easy to get caught up in worrying about the future, replaying the past, or feeling pulled in several directions at once. Mindfulness can help you step back from those thoughts, recognize what you are experiencing without judgment, and respond to yourself with greater patience and compassion. In our sessions, we may practice simple techniques such as mindful breathing, grounding exercises, and learning to observe thoughts and emotions without feeling the need to react to every one of them. These skills can help you recognize when anxiety is building, create space before responding to stressful situations, and become more intentional about how you care for yourself and navigate daily challenges. My goal is to help you develop practical tools that you can use both in and outside of therapy to feel more present, manage stress, and reconnect with yourself. Mindfulness is not about stopping your thoughts or making every difficult feeling disappear. It is about learning to meet yourself where you are, focus on what you can control in the present, and approach life's challenges with greater awareness, balance, and self-compassion.
