New to Grow
I’m a compassionate mental health professional who believes therapy is a collaborative process grounded in trust and genuine connection. As a therapist, it is not my job to tell you what to do or who you are, but rather help you discover and shape the story of your life as you want it to be. My practice focuses on supporting clients through life’s challenges while helping them better understand themselves and build on their strengths. I strive to provide a welcoming, judgment-free space where clients feel heard and supported as they work toward their personal goals.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, collaborative relationship. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and the goals you have for yourself, as well as any history of therapy and what worked (or didn't). There’s no pressure to have everything figured out! We’ll take the time to talk through what feels important to you and begin creating a plan that feels realistic and supportive.
I take a strengths-based, narrative approach to therapy, with a focus on helping you better understand yourself and the experiences that have shaped you. We’ll look at the stories you’ve come to believe about yourself and explore whether those stories still fit, or if there’s room to see things differently. I also believe therapy should be useful beyond the therapy room, so we’ll work together to develop practical tools and strategies that you can actually use in your day-to-day life. My goal is to help you recognize your strengths, feel more confident in your own story, and make meaningful changes at a pace that feels right for you.
I work with clients across all stages of life and personal growth. In general, my practice is best suited for those who are ready to start making practical changes while exploring their inner self and how it applies to decisions they make. This may include career transitions, beginning or ending of relationships, managing anxiety, and other life events (big or small).
CBT is focused on skills-based therapy, meaning we will be practicing skills that you can use in your day-to-day life. This might include journaling, schedule-building, habit changes, or simple tricks to make life just a little easier.
IFS is best for my creative clients who want to explore their inner narrative from different lenses. During a session with IFS, you can expect to be discovering "characters" that live inside you (think: inside out) and exploring how they interact with each other.
Our life and our beliefs are shaped by the story we create about ourselves. A large part of my approach to therapy is helping you discover your current story and re-writing the parts that no longer suit you. This may involve actual writing, or discussing the narrative and changes that you want to make.
Every person has strengths, and I aim to help you integrate these into your day-to-day to make life that much easier to manage. This might look like using your creative energy to re-organize a space, or it may be taking your perseverance into areas you haven't explored yet.
We don't know what we don't know, and a large part of therapy is learning about what makes our brains and bodies work and the science behind the choices we make. Part of therapy will encompass educating ourselves on the topics most relevant to your goals, and I prefer to give an explanation for why we are using a specific method so you have the knowledge.
