(she/her)
Hi, I’m Crystal Rollefson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Florida. Since moving from Hawaii in late 2021, I’ve been working with a small private practice while also beginning to grow my own practice. I hold a Certificate in Play Therapy from Capella University and am currently pursuing credentials to become a Registered Play Therapist in Florida. My professional journey began in substance abuse counseling, where I spent two years supporting adults with addictions, criminal justice involvement, and co-occurring mental health conditions. My approach to therapy is integrative and holistic, combining client-centered care, cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT), mindfulness, and play therapy principles. I believe in empowering individuals by helping them recognize and build upon their strengths—even when those strengths feel hard to find. Together, we can uncover them. I’m also a strong advocate for self-care and self-love as essential components of mental and physical well-being. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can heal, grow, and thrive—at your own pace and on your own terms.
In our first session, I’d like to keep things fairly simple and focused on getting to know you better. We’ll start with some brief introductions and go over your background, the challenges you’re currently facing, and what you see as your personal strengths. This will help me better understand how to support you and begin creating a treatment plan that fits your goals and needs. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to—this is your space, and we’ll go at your pace.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to draw from an integrated approach, combining client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT), and mindfulness-based strategies to support your overall well-being. I believe in meeting you where you are and tailoring our work together based on your unique needs, goals, and lived experiences. With both formal education and personal life experience, I bring a creative and flexible perspective into our sessions. I aim to offer meaningful, individualized feedback that supports your personal growth and healing journey. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I’m committed to walking alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and respect as we explore what works best for you.
My ideal client is someone who is open to collaboration and values building a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, rapport, and meaningful engagement. They are committed to personal growth and willing to challenge themselves, even when it feels uncomfortable. This client approaches the counseling process with openness and curiosity, and practices patience with themselves as they navigate change. They understand that motivation can fluctuate, and recognize that therapy is not a quick fix but a process that unfolds over time. They are willing to stay engaged through the ups and downs, working through life’s challenges with a mindset of persistence and self-compassion.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This method is the most common method I use with children, adolescents, and adults, I explain how it is used during sessions, such as specific situations you may be discussing.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Use of mindfulness techniques can be discussed to better manage anxiety, negative thought patterns, substance abuse and/or use symptoms, and anger management.
Integrative
I will use several different approaches based on client needs. Such as Client-centered, strength based, CBT, and mindfulness. I also use Play Therapy technques for children virtually.
Motivational Interviewing
This method is often used in substance abuse disorders but used with other issues that can help people resolve and strengthen motivation for change for their specific goals.
Strength-Based
This focuses on the person's strengths and resources to improve their quality of life. This approach is rooted in the idea people are agents of change in their own lives, highlighting a person's resilience, positive qualities, and their strengths.
