My name is Brittany Stark, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families. I specialize in working with individuals across the lifespan and bring a strong background in both education and clinical mental health. I began my career as a first-grade elementary teacher, where I spent eight years supporting students academically and emotionally. I later earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling and worked as a school counselor for nine years. Through these roles, I developed extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and families within school and community settings. In addition to my work in education, I served as a Behavioral Health Therapist in a behavioral health hospital for two years, providing care to individuals experiencing acute emotional and behavioral challenges. My clinical experience includes working with grief and loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood and behavioral concerns, and career-related stressors. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and a human-centered, strengths-based perspective. I believe therapy should be collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to build effective coping skills and meaningful change. Seeking support takes courage, and my goal is to work alongside you to help you reconnect with joy, resilience, and a sense of purpose.
Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to begin building a safe, supportive, and collaborative relationship. It’s normal to feel nervous, uncertain, or even hopeful when starting therapy, and there is no “right” way to feel coming in. During this initial session, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, any current concerns or stressors, and what you hope to work on. I may ask questions about your background, relationships, and experiences to better understand your needs. You are always in control of what you choose to share, and there is no pressure to discuss anything before you’re ready. We’ll also review important information such as confidentiality, how therapy works, and what sessions may look like moving forward. If you have questions about the process, goals, or expectations, this is a great time to ask. Above all, the first session is about creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. Therapy is not about judgment or fixing you—it’s about working together at your pace to build insight, skills, and meaningful change. If you’re feeling unsure about starting therapy, that’s completely okay. Taking this first step is an important one, and I’ll meet you where you are. If you want it even shorter (one paragraph) or adjusted for kids, teens, families, or telehealth, I can do that quickly.
My therapeutic style is kind, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I strive to build a good therapeutic relationship with all my clients. I will treat all my clients with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I like to use Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness. I individualize the treatment to best meet the needs of each of my clients. I am very passionate about my work and want to make my clients feel comfortable during their sessions.
What sets my approach apart is a balance of warmth, structure, and evidence-based care. I strive to create a safe, supportive space while also providing practical tools that clients can use outside of session. Therapy is collaborative and individualized—there is no one-size-fits-all approach. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-informed care. These approaches help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building concrete skills for emotional regulation, communication, and coping. I work at a pace that feels respectful and manageable, meeting clients where they are while gently supporting growth and change. Sessions often focus on increasing insight, strengthening self-confidence, improving emotional regulation, and developing healthier patterns in relationships, school, work, and daily life. Clients often report feeling heard, understood, and supported while also appreciating the practical nature of therapy. Many notices increased emotional awareness, improved coping skills, and greater confidence in managing stress and challenges over time. Above all, my goal is to empower clients with tools and understanding they can carry with them long after therapy ends.
I work best with children, adolescents, adults, and families who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, mood-related challenges, ADHD, emotional regulation, life transitions, stress, or relationship difficulties. I also support clients navigating trauma, grief, perfectionism, and challenges related to school, work, or family dynamics. I am especially well-suited for clients who want both emotional support and practical tools. My approach works well for individuals who are open to learning skills, increasing self-awareness, and practicing new ways of coping between sessions, even if they’re unsure where to start. You do not need to have clear goals when beginning therapy—we can work together to clarify what you need. I also work closely with parents and caregivers who want support in understanding their child’s emotions and behaviors and in learning strategies to strengthen connection, communication, and confidence at home. Families seeking a collaborative, strengths-based approach often find therapy with me to be a good fit. Clients who benefit most from working with me are those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space paired with structure, guidance, and evidence-based strategies. If you’re seeking therapy that is compassionate, goal-oriented, and tailored to your unique needs, I may be a good fit for you.

She is not just an very sweet person, but she talks the truth and helps me open my eyes to different points of view about life and situations, she has challenged me to do the best I can in every single aspect, and she does care about her clients, talking to her feels like talking to a friend, since it's more of a conversation, I feel safe every time we talked, she's been my therapist for over 4 years now, and I wouldn't changer her.
