I don't have a dream client. My dream is to try to help people. I became a therapist because therapy saved my life. I don't really focus on what the perfect client is because there isn't one. I will meet you where you are and then we will work together to get you where you want to be. That's my philosophy.
Our first session will be about getting to know one another and establishing an appropriate therapeutic relationship. My focus will be on answering any questions you have and clearly defining the expectations from a clinic perspective.
My greatest strength is my compassion. I care about people and therefore I care about my clients. I will work hard to make sure my clients get the services they need.
I have the most experience in working with co-occurring disorders such as substance use and mental health. I am open to working with any client.
I primarily practice under the Person-Center method. I believe that having a strong relationship with my clients is the most effective way of helping them. I focus on establishing the relationship, allowing the client to feel heard and seen, and letting them direct the session when appropriate.
I integrate CBT interventions into my sessions as a way to challenge negative cognitions and self-talk. I believe that changing the way we think about ourselves and situations is a powerful tool in helping us to learn coping skills and to adapt.
I believe that our experience of the world is important and that we can create meaning and value in our lives. I use this method to assist clients in learning what they have control of and focusing on that as a means to heal.
