Jana L Walker
Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 16 years of experience helping individuals and couples break through the patterns that keep them feeling trapped or overwhelmed. Throughout my career, I have worked with clients across a broad spectrum of needs, offering a compassionate, grounded space where real healing and growth can take place. Holding a Master’s degree in Counseling, I specialize in treating trauma, chronic anxiety, and substance use challenges. A significant focus of my practice is working with couples—helping partners navigate interpersonal conflicts, repair marital ruptures, and rebuild meaningful connection. Additionally, I have extensive experience providing faith-based counseling for clients who wish to integrate their spiritual beliefs into their healing journey. Whether you are navigating a difficult season, processing past pain, or seeking to restore balance in your life and relationships, my goal is to walk alongside you with clinical expertise and genuine empathy.
First session
Starting therapy is a courageous step, and my highest priority is to cultivate a safe, welcoming space where you feel immediately supported. Our initial session is focused on gathering information, exploring our potential connection, and meeting you right where you are. We will walk through what brings you to therapy while addressing any questions you have about the process, and I will share a bit about myself so you feel completely at ease. We will conclude our first time together by establishing clear, collaborative goals and a concrete plan forward, ensuring you leave feeling confident, supported, and equipped to achieve greater self-awareness, healthier communication, and restored peace in your life and relationships.
Strengths
What truly sets my approach apart is a curated blend of clinical experience, genuine warmth, and confident guidance. Rather than feeling like a series of disconnected appointments, our work together is intentional and collaborative—we set specific goals that matter to you and build a clear, continuous path from session to session. I utilize measurement-based care alongside your ongoing personal input, giving you tangible ways to track, see, and feel your progress over time. You will always have a clear sense of direction, practical tools for daily life, and a dedicated partner walking beside you every step of the way.
Ideal clients
I work with clients of all adult life stages and a variety of challenges they may be facing. My years of personal and professional experience equip me to walk alongside clients who are transitioning to new stages, feeling stuck in a current stage or facing hurdles individually or in their relationships. Ideally, my client would be ready to explore their challenges and motivated to make positive change.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is rooted in exploring the powerful connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. In our work together, we will examine whether certain thinking patterns may be contributing to your current circumstances or keeping you stuck. From there, I work collaboratively with you to consider fresh perspectives and more helpful ways of thinking, developing intentional strategies so you can actively practice those new mindsets in your daily life.
Faith-based therapy
I believe that if a person is of faith, connecting their beliefs to their current challenges can be very helpful. I am equipped to help clients make this connection if they choose.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family systems is a perspective that assists the client to understand opposing patterns of thought or behavior that can be tied back to adverse childhood experiences. Learning about IFS concepts and implementing the strategies can be a beneficial avenue for healing from the past and improving interpersonal relationships.
