Hi I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Virginia. I received my Master's of Social Work Degree from VCU and have been a practicing therapist for 5 years. Additionally, I have over 30 years of experience working with families and teens within a school setting. I recently decided to branch out into my own therapy practice to better assist individuals in achieving their goals. I have experience working with individuals and families in the areas of self esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, conflict, special education and faith.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

At the initial session we will work together to tell your story. Part of my role will be that of an active listener allowing you to share in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. I may ask you some structured questions to gather information to assist me in understanding your concerns. We may complete paperwork and I will document your contact information. As part of this process we will begin to identify the goals you want to develop during treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have experience both in outpatient and school settings working with individuals who struggle with anxiety and depression.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in Christian Counseling and ideally want to work with individuals who desire to seek therapy from a provider who utilizes research based treatment through a faith based lens.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I work with clients who want to explore counseling through a faith based lens. Within the framework of Christian Counseling I utilize a strength based approach to help clients develop a specific plan to assist with increasing confidence in one's abilities, while exploring strategies to decrease symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression and grief. My goal is to help you identify and develop practical stepping stones to success so you can really thrive again.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have worked with clients over the last 5 years within a cognitive behavior model to help decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression by assisting clients to identify and challenge unhealthy thinking patterns. Together we explore ways to manage anxiety by developing positive coping strategies while working together to reducing unwanted symptoms.
