Hi, I’m Katie, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the owner of Rising Phoenix Mental Wellness. I specialize in psychiatric medication management for children, teens, and adults, with a focus on conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and mood disorders. I believe mental health care should feel personal, collaborative, and judgment-free—not like you’re just another name on a schedule. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported while working together to find a treatment approach that fits your needs and helps you feel more like yourself again.

First session

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for me to understand what you’ve been experiencing, what brings you to care, and what you hope to feel differently. There’s no need to have everything figured out before you walk through the door—you don’t have to know exactly what diagnosis you have or what medication you need. We’ll talk about your symptoms, history, current medications, and goals, and I’ll answer any questions you have along the way. Together, we’ll develop a personalized medication plan based on your needs, preferences, and goals. Most importantly, this is a collaborative process. You should feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and having a voice in your treatment. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and confident about the next steps in your care.

Strengths

I think one of my greatest strengths is that I genuinely listen. I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health care, and I take the time to understand the whole person—not just their symptoms or diagnosis. My approach to medication management is collaborative and individualized, with an emphasis on helping patients understand the “why” behind their treatment and feel comfortable being part of the decision-making process. I also strive to create a relaxed, judgment-free environment where you can be honest about what’s working, what isn’t, and what you need. My goal is for you to leave our sessions feeling heard, understood, and hopeful—not like you simply checked another appointment off your calendar.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is ready for support but may not necessarily have all the answers yet. You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, mood changes, or simply feeling like you don’t quite feel like yourself anymore. You may be looking for medication management, a better understanding of what you’re experiencing, or a treatment plan that actually fits your life. I especially enjoy working with children, teens, and adults who want a provider who will listen without judgment, explain things along the way, and work *with* them rather than simply tell them what to do. Wherever you are starting from, my goal is to help you feel understood and take the next step toward feeling better.

Treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

I use motivational interviewing to help clients explore what they want for themselves and what may be getting in the way. Rather than telling you what you “should” do, I ask questions, listen to your concerns, and help you work through the reasons for and against making a change. I believe people are more likely to make lasting changes when they feel heard and have a say in their own care. In our sessions, I use this approach to help you identify your own goals, build confidence, and make treatment decisions that feel realistic and right for you.
