For the past couple of years, I have been practicing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, providing compassionate and patient-centered mental health care.

I am passionate about helping individuals improve their emotional well-being through a supportive approach that includes therapy and medication management, while creating a safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their journey toward better mental health.

First session

During your initial evaluation, we will spend time discussing what brought you in and the concerns you would like help with. I will ask about your past medical and psychiatric history, medications you have taken in the past, your current medications, and any medication allergies. We will also review family history and other background information that may help guide your care. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan, which may include therapy, coping strategies, and medication management if appropriate. My goal is to create a comfortable and supportive environment where you feel safe, heard, respected, and understood as we work together toward better mental health.

Strengths

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that combines therapy with medication management when appropriate. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My focus is on creating a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel heard and empowered to develop practical skills that improve emotional balance, resilience, and overall mental wellness.

Ideal clients

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, trauma, and other mood-related concerns who are seeking both therapy and medication management. I take a collaborative and supportive approach to care, helping clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing effective coping strategies. Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), along with appropriate medication management when needed, I support clients in improving focus, emotional regulation, and overall mental wellness.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is commonly used to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, and stress-related conditions, and it can be incorporated into brief sessions alongside medication management Assess thoughts and behaviors: Ask patients what they think and feel during stressful or triggering situations. Identify negative thinking patterns: Help them recognize distorted thoughts (e.g., catastrophizing, self-blame). Challenge and reframe thoughts: Guide patients to replace negative thoughts with more realistic and balanced ones. Teach coping strategies: Introduce skills such as problem-solving, relaxation, and behavioral activation. Assign homework: Encourage patients to practice new thinking patterns or behaviors between visits.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

You can use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in your practice to help patients improve emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal relationships. Where you can apply DBT: Emotional dysregulation: Teach patients skills to manage intense emotions without impulsive reactions. Crisis or distress situations: Use distress-tolerance techniques (breathing, grounding, distraction). Relationship conflicts: Teach interpersonal effectiveness skills to improve communication and boundaries. Impulsive behaviors: Help patients pause, observe emotions, and respond more mindfully. Anxiety or mood disorders: Use mindfulness to help patients stay present and reduce rumination.
