Hello, I’m Samurat Ibilola Oni, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-C, founder of God First Wellness Center LLC. I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults, including comprehensive evaluations, medication management, and treatment for Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Insomnia, OCD, and related conditions. My approach is personalized and patient-centered. Please note that my practice does not prescribe stimulant medications for the treatment of ADHD.

First session

During your first session, we will discuss your concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, current medications, and treatment goals. I will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, answer your questions, and work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered.

Strengths

I bring compassion, active listening, clinical expertise, and a nonjudgmental approach to every session. My practice stands out because I take time to understand each person's unique experiences and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans. I focus on building strong therapeutic relationships, providing comprehensive psychiatric care, and empowering patients with the tools, education, and support needed to achieve lasting mental wellness.

Ideal clients

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-C), I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, insomnia, mood disorders, stress-related concerns, and life transitions that affect daily functioning and overall well-being. I work with individuals who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck, or frustrated by symptoms that interfere with work, relationships, school, or personal goals. Some clients have struggled with mental health challenges for years, while others are seeking support for the first time. I also help adults seeking diagnostic clarification, medication management, and practical strategies to improve focus, emotional regulation, and overall functioning. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and individualized. I believe effective treatment begins with listening carefully, understanding each client's unique experiences, and developing a personalized treatment plan that aligns with their goals. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable discussing concerns and actively participating in their care. In addition to medication management, I incorporate therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, psychoeducation, and supportive therapy. These approaches help clients gain insight, build coping skills, improve resilience, and make meaningful progress toward their goals. I commonly work with adults experiencing anxiety, excessive worry, panic symptoms, depression, low motivation, emotional exhaustion, OCD, intrusive thoughts, and compulsive behaviors. I also support professionals facing burnout, stress, and difficulty balancing responsibilities, as well as individuals navigating grief, relationship challenges, and major life changes. My practice is best suited for adults who are motivated to better understand their mental health, engage in treatment, and make lasting changes that support emotional wellness, improved functioning, healthier relationships, and a better quality of life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the evidence-based approaches I incorporate into treatment to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Many mental health symptoms, including anxiety, depression, stress, OCD, and ADHD-related challenges, can be influenced by patterns of thinking that develop over time. During our sessions, I help clients identify unhelpful or distorted thought patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress or difficulties in daily life. Together, we examine these thoughts, evaluate their accuracy, and develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. We also focus on practical behavioral strategies that can improve coping skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving, organization, and overall functioning. CBT is a collaborative and goal-oriented process. I work with clients to develop personalized tools and coping techniques that can be applied outside of sessions to manage symptoms more effectively. Depending on your needs, CBT techniques may be integrated into medication management visits or addressed more extensively during psychotherapy sessions. My goal is to help clients gain insight, build resilience, develop healthier coping skills, and feel empowered to manage life's challenges with greater confidence and emotional well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a patient-centered, evidence-based counseling approach that I use to help clients explore and strengthen their motivation for change. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I recognize that meaningful change is most successful when it comes from the client's own values, goals, and readiness rather than feeling pressured by others. In my practice, I use Motivational Interviewing to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly discuss their concerns, challenges, and ambivalence about treatment. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I help them explore the pros and cons of change, identify personal goals, and discover their own reasons for making healthier choices. I frequently use MI when working with clients who are: - Struggling with medication adherence. - Considering lifestyle changes to improve mental health. - Managing substance use concerns. - Addressing anxiety, depression, ADHD, or other psychiatric symptoms. - Engaging in therapy for the first time. - Feeling uncertain or resistant about treatment recommendations. Through reflective listening, open-ended questions, affirmations, and collaborative goal-setting, I help clients identify barriers to progress and build confidence in their ability to make positive changes. This approach empowers clients to take an active role in their treatment and supports long-term success. My goal is to meet clients where they are, respect their autonomy, and partner with them in developing realistic, achievable steps toward improved mental health and overall well-being. ::: In practice, this often sounds like: - "What concerns do you have about starting this medication?" - "What changes would you most like to see in your life over the next few months?" - "On a scale of 1 to 10, how ready do you feel to make this change?" - "What would need to happen for that number to move one point higher?" By using Motivational Interviewing alongside medication management and psychotherapy, I help clients increase engagement, enhance treatment adherence, and make lasting behavioral changes that support their mental health goals.

The session was authentic I felt heard for the first time in a long time. I was wanting to go with a non-medication approach, leaving medicine as a last result However I will trust the process and follow through
