Empowering

Seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, especially when dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD symptoms, burnout, mood changes, or emotional exhaustion. With over 15 years of experience in psychiatry, I provide compassionate, evidence-based virtual psychiatric care for adults across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I especially enjoy working with high-functioning professionals, college-age adults, caregivers, and older adults motivated to prioritize their mental health and emotional wellness. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized, with a strong focus on thoughtful medication management, supplement implementation, and long-term emotional wellness. I strive to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where patients feel heard, respected, empowered, and actively involved in their treatment journey.

First session

Your first appointment is typically 45 to 60 minutes and is designed to help us get to know one another. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, concerns, and experiences. Everything we discuss is kept confidential, with the exception of situations where I am legally required to act to protect your safety or the safety of others. During our session, we'll talk about what brought you to treatment, your current symptoms, your mental health and medical history, any previous treatment, your lifestyle, and the goals you hope to achieve. This helps me develop a thorough understanding of you as a whole person, not just your diagnosis. By the end of our visit, we'll work together to create a personalized treatment plan. If medication is appropriate, I'll explain your options, including the benefits, possible side effects, and what to expect moving forward. You'll also have plenty of time to ask questions, and I want you to leave feeling heard, supported, and confident about the next steps in your care.

Strengths

I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can be yourself. My greatest strengths are listening with empathy, meeting you where you are, and working collaboratively to help you reach your goals. The only thing I ask of my clients is that they come to our sessions with honesty and openness. You don't have to have all the answers, and you never have to worry about being judged. The more openly we can discuss your thoughts, feelings, symptoms, and challenges, the better we can develop a treatment plan that truly fits your needs and gives you the best chance for success. I believe mental health care is a partnership. Together, we'll create a personalized plan that helps you feel better, build resilience, and move toward the life you want.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is committed to improving their mental health and ready to take an active role in their treatment. You don't have to have everything figured out, but I do ask that you come with an open mind, communicate honestly, and be willing to work together toward your goals. I value clients who take their care seriously by attending scheduled appointments, taking medications as prescribed (when applicable), following through with agreed-upon treatment recommendations, and communicating if something isn't working. Mental health treatment is most effective when we work as a team, and your involvement is an important part of that process. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, or another mental health concern, I'm looking for clients who are motivated to make meaningful, lasting changes and are committed to investing in their overall well-being.

Treatment methods

Supportive

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy during medication management visits. My approach combines evidence-based medication treatment with education, coping strategies, and practical guidance to help you better understand and manage your mental health. If needed, I'm happy to provide referrals and help connect you with a therapist in your area who accepts your insurance and is a good fit for your individual needs. I believe that, for many people, the combination of medication management and psychotherapy offers the best opportunity for long-term success.
