I am Tania Almeida, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, and other mental health challenges using approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to work toward healing, balance, and lasting personal growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another in a comfortable, supportive environment. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and any goals you hope to achieve. I'll also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, and overall well-being so I can better understand your unique experiences. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels right for you, and you're always welcome to ask questions about the therapy process. Together, we'll begin developing a plan that is tailored to your needs and focused on helping you build the tools, insight, and confidence to create meaningful, lasting change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring compassion, empathy, and a nonjudgmental approach to every session. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable being yourself and sharing your experiences. I believe that every person has unique strengths, and I work collaboratively with you to build on those strengths while developing practical tools to navigate life's challenges. I also bring years of clinical experience, evidence-based techniques, and a genuine commitment to understanding your individual needs. Whether you're working through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, or major life transitions, I will meet you where you are and support you with respect, honesty, and encouragement throughout your journey.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to invest in their emotional well-being and open to the process of growth and self-discovery. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed, I welcome individuals who are looking for a supportive space to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. You don't need to have all the answers or know exactly where to begin—just a willingness to take the first step. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels right for you, building on your strengths and developing the tools you need to move forward with confidence.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, or other challenges, and work to replace them with more balanced, realistic perspectives. Through practical strategies and skill-building, I'll help you develop healthier coping techniques, improve emotional regulation, and build confidence in managing life's difficulties.

Attachment-based

I use an attachment-based approach to help clients understand how early relationships and life experiences shape the way they connect with themselves and others. In our sessions, we'll explore patterns in relationships, identify underlying emotional needs, and work toward building a greater sense of security, trust, and self-awareness.

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy provides a supportive, neutral space where both partners can openly share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. During our sessions, I help each person feel heard while guiding conversations in a respectful and productive way. Together, we'll explore communication patterns, relationship dynamics, and the underlying issues contributing to conflict or disconnection. My goal is to help you strengthen communication, rebuild trust, deepen emotional connection, and develop healthier ways of navigating challenges together.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help clients develop skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and navigating life’s challenges more effectively. In our sessions, we may focus on building emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and communication skills. Together, we will explore ways to better understand your emotions, respond to difficult situations with greater awareness, and develop healthier coping strategies.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore their goals, strengthen motivation, and identify the personal reasons behind the changes they want to make. In our sessions, I provide a collaborative and nonjudgmental space where we can explore your values, recognize your strengths, and work through any barriers that may be preventing growth. Rather than directing the process, I partner with you to uncover your own motivation and build confidence in your ability to create meaningful change. This approach helps clients feel empowered, understood, and supported as they move toward the life they want to create.
