I'm not your typical psychotherapist. I have the educational knowledge, first-hand experience working with a broad population, and a lot of lived experience to go along with it. I'm relatable and real and am able to tailor treatment to you and your specific needs. My approach is empathetic, goal-oriented, and client centered (meaning we focus on YOU, and YOU are the true expert of yourself). My general style is warm, engaging, and without judgment, yet direct and reflective. I am able to adapt to your varying needs or goals in treatment and am regularly checking in to make sure we are moving in the direction that you feel we need to go.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will start with introductions, review what therapy is and isn't, and then explore the specific challenges you are facing. This will support us in working together to create clear goals/objectives and identify which modalities to utilize in your services.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and believe that anyone has the capacity for change, healing and growth if they are open and willing. I can be here to guide you along the way or simply be your sounding board.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Young adults, working moms, women, those who have experienced trauma and adversity. Although I offer video, often phone is preferred as it allows for greater flexibility in scheduling, thus I am generally able to accommodate early morning or late evening sessions (please note that what is listed on my calendar is not all that I have available; please reach out for additional times).

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Hi, my name's Amanda Pantaleón and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California with 14 years of experience providing psychotherapy, primarily in non-profit and community-based mental health. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling in Marriage & Family Therapy from Saint Mary's College of California and have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, boundaries and relationship issues, communication issues, parenting problems, and general life stressors and events. I also have substantial experience supporting people in their healing journeys who have suffered trauma and abuse (including generational trauma, sexual abuse, domestic abuse/domestic violence, emotional, mental, and physical abuse). My approach combines an array of approaches I've learned over the years, including evidence-based modalities and interventions of cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, neurodevelopmental models, humanistic, psychodynamic, mindfulness, and trauma-informed counseling. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and believe that anyone has the capacity for change, healing and growth if they are open and willing, I can be here to guide you along the way or simply be your sounding board.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I'm a trauma survivor and battle the constant myriad of pressures this life has to offer. Despite being raised in a culture that stigmatized mental health, I recognize the importance of normalizing the problems that we all face, accepting that it's okay to accept help and support, and that talking about feelings doesn't make you weak...it makes you human.
