Welcome, my name is Diana Delgado, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I am a South Los Angeles native who graduated from California State University, Long Beach with my Master of Social Work in 2016, go BEACH! I am a first generation high school and college graduate Latina. My experiences as a Latina woman guide my practice and understanding of issues that many of my clients may experience. A lot of my clinical experience is based on working with families and individuals who have experienced trauma. With that, much of my clinical experience is with clients experiencing PTSD, anxiety, and/or depression.
Therapy can be a scary thing to start, often times clients can be unsure or fearful, our first session will start with you! First sessions can be as simple as a warm introduction and getting comfortable with one another or we can dive in! That will be up to you. First sessions typically come with tons of questions, again, because we want to get to know each other and develop a level of comfort. Follow up sessions will be a combination of processing and working towards our therapeutic goals.
One of my greatest strengths is the partnerships that I develop with my clients. Therapy is about you and the work that you want to do. As a therapist, my work is in supporting my clients decide what they want to work on, I am here to support with that process. A partnership as a provider, is very important to me. I take pride in working with my clients and meeting them where they are.
I love working with individuals who are open and ready to take the first steps towards improvements. Whether clients are ready or not really sure about therapy, our work together will be beneficial towards self work and improvement. I am always happy to work with all adult age groups. I also love working with Spanish speaking clients, as a bilingual therapist, I know the importance of feeling comfortable in any language.
Our thoughts are very powerful! I have utilized a CBT approach in my practice to support clients in challenging thoughts that aren't always very helpful to how we feel. Together we will use CBT to identify those thoughts, challenge them, and replace them with more positive and helpful thoughts.
You have strengths! Sometimes, all it take is some searching and processing to discover and identify those strengths. Our therapy process will do just that. We will take time to explore and identify the strengths that you have and how to maximize, understand, and use them.
