About me

I’m Shanae Katie Lee, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and owner of Fleeting Moments Therapy. I specialize in supporting military service members, veterans, first responders, and their families as they navigate the unique challenges of service-related stress, trauma, and life transitions. Drawing from EMDR, CBT, and trauma-informed care, I create a safe, nonjudgmental space to process experiences, build resilience, and develop practical tools for managing the demands of both work and personal life. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, understood, and equipped to move forward with strength and purpose.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about your goals for therapy. I’ll ask about your history, current concerns, and what’s most important for you to work on right now. You’ll have the opportunity to share at your own pace—there’s no pressure to talk about anything you’re not ready for. We’ll discuss the approaches that might work best for you, such as EMDR or CBT, and create a plan together. My goal is for you to leave that first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the next steps.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring extensive experience working with trauma in military, veteran, and first responder communities, blending EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-informed care to meet each client’s unique needs. My approach is culturally competent, compassionate, and tailored to the pace you’re comfortable with. I am committed to creating a space where you feel safe to unpack difficult experiences, learn practical tools, and reclaim a sense of control in your life. Clients appreciate my ability to balance professionalism with genuine understanding, helping them move forward with confidence and resilience.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with military service members, veterans, first responders, and their families who are navigating the stress, trauma, and transitions that come with a life of service. My clients often face challenges such as post-traumatic stress, hypervigilance, relationship strain, or difficulty adjusting to civilian life. Many are highly resilient but may feel isolated, on edge, or unable to fully relax. They value a therapist who understands the culture of service, the impact it can have on mental health, and the importance of confidentiality and trust. Whether you’re looking to process difficult experiences, manage stress more effectively, or strengthen relationships, I provide a supportive, goal-focused environment where your voice and needs lead the way.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a research-supported therapy that helps people process and heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. In our sessions, I guide you through a structured, eight-phase process using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) to help your brain reprocess difficult memories and reduce their emotional impact. EMDR can be effective for trauma, anxiety, grief, and other emotional challenges, allowing you to move forward with greater peace and resilience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical strategies to replace them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. CBT is a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that can be effective for anxiety, depression, stress, and other challenges, empowering you to create lasting positive changes in your life.

Trauma Informed Care

I practice from a Trauma-Informed Care perspective, which means I understand how past experiences can impact your current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My approach emphasizes safety, trust, and empowerment, and I work to create a supportive environment where you feel heard and respected. Together, we move at your pace, focusing on your strengths while gently addressing challenges so healing can happen without re-traumatization.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a Person-Centered approach, which means you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel supported and understood. I believe in your natural ability to grow and heal, and I tailor our work to your needs, values, and goals so therapy moves at a pace that feels right for you.
