My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most researched and widely used forms of psychotherapy in clinical practice. Research has consistently demonstrated its effectiveness in treating a wide range of psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and others. The core principle of CBT is that our thought patterns influence our emotions and behaviors. When our thinking is distorted, unhelpful, or inaccurate, it can contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. The primary goal of CBT is to help individuals identify and modify these dysfunctional thoughts, leading to improvements in emotional regulation and behavior. In addition to addressing cognitive patterns, CBT also incorporates behavioral techniques aimed at changing problematic behaviors directly, which can also reduce psychological distress. CBT is a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that involves active participation from both the therapist and the client. Treatment often includes homework assignments to practice and reinforce skills learned during therapy sessions.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) is a humanistic approach to psychotherapy that emphasizes an individual's innate capacity for self-actualization, which is the natural tendency to grow, heal, and fulfill one’s potential. This growth is facilitated through a therapeutic environment characterized by the therapist’s unconditional positive regard, genuineness (authenticity), and empathic understanding. Rather than using directive techniques, the therapist primarily reflects and clarifies the client’s thoughts and feelings, helping the client develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance. This nonjudgmental and supportive environment encourages the client to explore their inner experience and move toward positive change. In practice, Person-Centered Therapy is often used to build trust and emotional safety, particularly in early sessions, as it helps clients feel comfortable, heard, and accepted.

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Psychotherapy is a highly researched and evidence-based treatment modality that focuses on improving a person’s interpersonal relationships and social roles, which are often closely related to psychological symptoms. The core idea behind IPT is that mental health symptoms can be improved by addressing current interpersonal problems. By helping individuals better understand and adapt to their social roles and relationships, IPT aims to reduce distress and enhance overall functioning. IPT typically focuses on one or more of four primary interpersonal problem areas: unresolved grief, interpersonal role disputes, role transitions, and interpersonal deficits.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based and person-centered therapeutic approach designed to help individuals enhance their intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence about behavior change. In contrast to other directive approaches, Motivational Interviewing supports the person in identifying their own reasons for change, in line with their values and goals.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented psychological intervention that focuses on building solutions rather than analyzing problems. Instead of exploring the origins of a client's difficulties, the therapist uses specific types of questions to help clients identify and utilize their own strengths, past successes, and resources to achieve meaningful goals.
