In our first session, I will introduce myself and discuss confidentiality guidelines in order to assist you to feel comfortable and safe so you can eventually openly communicate your presenting concerns. I will ask you to tell me about yourself, likes and dislikes and we will review the intake forms with your concerns and reasons for seeking therapy and your goal for therapy. During this first session, we will discuss different modality styles and which one you are comfortable with.
My greates strengths as a Licensed Therapist is my ability to be compassionate and honest. My sessions are a safe place to develop trust build a good client-therapist relationship. I prefer to assist my clients to develop tools in order for you to manage your daily stressors, mood symptoms, anxiety symptoms and other stressors that are causing emotional pain. I teach my clients how to fish, instead of fishing for you. This will enable you to practice the tools and coping skills learn in our sessions for your daily and future.
I enjoy working with teenages adults, geriatric populations, couples and families. I am certified in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, first responders, fire fighters, law enforcements officers, veterans and their spouses and families. I am also certified in assisting couples in same sex relationships, victims of human trafficking, culturally responsive therapy and behavioral health services
In my family practice I assist family members, including extended family members to improve the structure and organization in the household by providing Structural Family Therapy. This intervention assist parents and children to decrease the stressors of family life and acceptance of family expectations of each other. As a relationship and family therapist, I assist families to live together in improving harmony and acceptance of each other's different feelings and thoughts.
Sometimes in life; stress can trigger negative thoughts that leads to negative behaviors. With Positive Psychology I teach changing negative thoughts into positive and realistic thoughts and feelings that will contribute to positive behavioral activation. Positive behavioral activation leads to learning to manage life array of stressors and obstacles.
