LISW19 years of experience

Seeking support can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate life's challenges alone. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience helping individuals work through anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, substance use concerns, low self-esteem, codependency, life transitions, and other personal challenges. Since 2006, I have worked with individuals in a variety of settings, including outpatient and residential treatment programs. My experience includes supporting people with both mental health and substance use concerns, often referred to as dual diagnosis treatment. I have also worked alongside the court system and facilitated Moral Reconation Therapy groups, giving me experience supporting clients from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing, so I work closely with each client to develop goals and strategies that fit their situation. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and continue expanding the use of EMDR within teletherapy services. Whether you are working through past trauma, managing difficult emotions, navigating recovery, or simply seeking greater balance in your life, I am committed to helping you move toward lasting growth and healing.

First session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong foundation for therapy. We will discuss what brought you to counseling, explore your current concerns, and review any important personal, mental health, or substance use history that may help guide treatment. We will also review confidentiality, your rights as a client, and what you can expect throughout the therapy process. Most importantly, this session is a chance for you to ask questions and determine whether you feel comfortable working with me. Together, we will begin identifying goals that are meaningful to you and create a plan for moving forward. My aim is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences at your own pace.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to adapt my approach to meet the unique needs of each client. I understand that every individual brings different experiences, challenges, and goals into therapy, and I strive to create a treatment experience that feels personalized and effective. I also bring a strong sense of empathy, compassion, and understanding to my work. Building trust is an important part of the therapeutic relationship, and I work hard to ensure clients feel genuinely heard, supported, and respected throughout the process. In addition, my extensive experience working with both mental health and substance use concerns allows me to view challenges from multiple perspectives and help clients develop practical tools for lasting change. My goal is to empower clients to build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and create healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is useful in targeting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and examining how they are interconnected. Using CBT can help with changing thought patterns to improve overall emotional states and behaviors.

EMDR

EMDR is helpful to target negative cognitions and traumas of the past so one can heal their inner self and work through difficult past memories.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness gives clients a way to observe their internal state without immediately reacting, while proprioceptive awareness anchors that observation in the body—making it more tangible and actionable. When anxiety or anger ramps up, people often lose a sense of physical grounding. Bringing attention to proprioceptive input—like noticing pressure in the feet, muscle tension, or body position—can interrupt that escalation loop. It shifts them out of the cognitive or emotional reactivity and into the present moment.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a form of goal-oriented communication focused on strengthening a person’s own motivation and commitment to change.

Supportive

Supportive therapy focuses on helping a person cope more effectively with current stressors, stabilize emotions, and maintain or improve day-to-day functioning.
