Hello there, I’m Libby (Elizabeth) Forbes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Indiana, and I believe deeply that every person deserves care, dignity, and the opportunity to heal. You are SO BRAVE!!! Thank you for searching and trying!! It is an absolute privilege you have stumbled onto my page! I approach therapy with warmth, compassion, and the belief that people are not defined by their struggles, but by their capacity to grow beyond them. My work is grounded in meeting you exactly where you are and walking alongside you as you move toward greater clarity, strength, and self-understanding. Having experienced my own seasons of profound loss and rebuilding, I hold a genuine respect for the courage it takes to reach out for support, and I consider it a privilege to be part of each client’s journey toward hope, healing, and renewed purpose.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is a space for you to arrive just as you are—no pressure, no expectations, and no need to have everything figured out. We’ll begin by gently exploring what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and where you feel stuck or unsure, while also taking time to build comfort and connection at a pace that feels right for you. I will also guide us through any needed intake information in a way that feels natural and not overwhelming. My hope is that you leave that first session feeling heard, supported, and a little more hopeful than when you arrived.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a therapist are my ability to create a calm, grounded, and genuinely safe space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected exactly as they are. I take a deeply collaborative and integrative approach, drawing from multiple evidence-based theories while always tailoring treatment to the unique needs, pace, and goals of each individual. Clients often find that I balance clinical skill with warmth and authenticity, helping them feel both supported and empowered as they build insight, strengthen resilience, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client as an LCSW is anyone of any age, background, or life stage who is seeking support in navigating life’s challenges and reconnecting with a sense of meaning and well-being. I am deeply committed to working with all people in a compassionate and collaborative way, helping them uncover and cultivate happiness, joy, peace, hope, worth, and purpose as they move toward a more grounded and fulfilling life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My CBT approach is collaborative and centers on helping clients actively engage with evidence-based cognitive and behavioral techniques to deepen self-awareness and identify maladaptive thought patterns and core beliefs. Together, we work to develop more balanced and adaptive thinking while strengthening practical coping skills that support emotional resilience, improved functioning, and sustainable behavioral change that enhances overall well-being.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

My work integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles to help clients respond more effectively to difficult thoughts and emotions by cultivating present-moment awareness, practicing acceptance, and reducing struggle with internal experiences. I support clients in clarifying their core values and committing to value-consistent actions that enhance psychological flexibility, well-being, and a meaningful life aligned with their authentic self.

Attachment-based

I work collaboratively with clients to explore relational patterns and the ways early attachment experiences may continue to influence current relationships, emotional responses, and sense of self. This work supports increased insight and awareness while strengthening emotional regulation and reflective capacity. Together, we identify and practice healthier, more secure ways of relating to others, with the goal of fostering greater relational stability, emotional safety, and more secure attachment experiences over time.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Using TF-CBT, I support clients in processing traumatic experiences while strengthening adaptive thinking patterns and promoting meaningful healing. The work also focuses on building coping skills, gently challenging unhelpful trauma-related beliefs, and fostering a greater sense of safety, stability, and personal empowerment.

Grief Therapy

Through grief therapy, I offer a supportive and compassionate space for clients to honor their loss and process the emotional impact of bereavement at their own pace. I help clients develop strategies to navigate complex and often fluctuating emotions, while validating the individuality of their grief experience. When they are ready, I also support them in adjusting to the life changes that accompany loss and in finding a way forward that feels meaningful, grounded, and aligned with their values and ongoing connection to what has been lost.
