I have been a therapist for 14+ years and I love what I do. I truly feel it has been a calling for me to sit with my clients in the dark spaces of life, so they feel less alone and to process the hurts with them. I love watching my clients have incremental improvements and watching them learn to love and trust themselves and to have healthier relationships. I am very open minded and believe you are a whole person and am not embarrassed to talk about any of what you have going on. I am open minded spiritually and am an LGBTQ ally and member. I am not the therapist who is just going to sit and nod at you while you talk, I am engaging and give feedback and consider what my clients are able to hear and the level of changes they are wanting/ willing to make. I myself have been in therapy and work hard to hold my role as therapist in mind as well as my side on the other side of the clinical relationship. I do not view myself as the expert on your life, just a fellow human that has some extra training in this area, as well as good people skills and high intuition that genuinely wants to help and cares once I have heard your story. I am conversational in session and will self disclose if it relates to the conversation. I have a dark sense of humor, suck at math and love animals and I enjoy reading, watching TV and coloring for fun. I have been told by others that I am a great listener, think outside the box and am nonjudgmental and am authentic and genuine. I would love to work with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session we will spend time talking about your history and what brings you to therapy. We will work on building our therapeutic relationship and figuring out what goals you have and areas you want to work on. We will discuss policies.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have been told by others that I am in my calling as a therapist. I am an excellent listener and give really great ideas that are outside the box. My clients appreciate that I am not robotic in the therapy room and that I occasionally self disclose. They like that I don’t take myself too seriously, but that I do take their concerns seriously and that I show a deep and authentic level of care for them. They appreciate that I will hold them accountable but not in a judgmental or mean way.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with clients that are a bit woo- woo, alternative, empaths and who are insightful and open minded. I love helping women get out of abusive and narcissistic relationships and helping young adults understand themselves as an adult and work through childhood trauma and their parents being emotionally immature and getting to a place of “ they did the best they could with what they had”. I appreciate clients who are neurodiverse because they see all the colors that make up the world and have an added layer of depth to them. I enjoy helping people with a dark sense of humor and who have or do feel broken or relate with being resilient and overcomers, or underdogs, the black sheep of the family and those who are the cycle breakers. Those who are LGBTQ+, those who are deconstructing from church or organized religion, those that feel deeply and have more than one type of knowing.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

My clients have appreciated my down to earth non-judgmental way of showing up to sessions. To me, the relationship I have with my clients means more than what methodology I use. Meaning if they feel heard, seen, validated and understood means more than if I used a certain method of counseling. I tell my clients regularly that I am proud of them, because I truly am, change and growth for the better, isn’t easy, you are doing a hard thing and showing up for yourself! Imagine if everyone that needed to, did that?

EMDR

I utilize EMDR virtually to help my clients heal from various types of trauma. It is very helpful at processing hard situations and seeing results relatively quickly. I have seen people have change within one session and be able to be exposed to triggers and it not effect them as intensely.

Grief Therapy

Death is not the only thing that causes us to grieve in life. It can be the loss of a job, the realization that a relationship will never be what you needed, the loss of a pet, the realization that a dream will never come true etc.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I really enjoy using IFS with my clients and find it is a powerful form of working with the different aspects of ourselves and figuring out how they can work together for our greater good.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I pride myself in meeting those I work with, where they are on their individual journey. I don’t do cookie cutter treatment and enjoy building rapport and a solid relationship with my clients to determine what your goals are and interventions that will work well for each individual.
