I have over 30 years of experience in mental health nursing. I provide evidence-based, compassionate, and holistic care tailored to each individual's unique journey. My extensive background across the lifespan includes high-acuity partial hospitalization, inpatient care, crisis intervention, developmental pediatrics, and case management with vulnerable children in foster care. These experiences give me a deep understanding of the complex challenges my patients navigate. Since transitioning into the role of a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in 2020, I have focused primarily on supporting children, teens, and their families. While my heart lies in pediatric and family work, I also enjoy supporting young adults and those who are “young at heart.” I am particularly passionate about helping families manage mental health concerns. For children and adolescents who have been previously diagnosed with higher-functioning Autism, I help address co-occurring concerns such as ADHD, depression, and anxiety. I also advocate for students with mental health challenges and help secure the school accommodations they need to thrive. My goal is to see you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms, and to ensure you feel respected and understood every step of the way. Outside of my practice, I recharge as an avid outdoorswoman. You can often find me mountain biking, fishing, clamming, or hiking—usually with my Brittany Spaniel, Sugar, by my side.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, here’s what you can expect: my priority is to create a comfortable space where you can share your story in your own words. We will walk through a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment together, which is essentially a deep dive into the biological, emotional, and social factors that shape your well-being. While this involves me asking several questions, it allows us to identify your unique stressors and strengths. By the end of our meeting, we will have laid the foundation for a clear diagnosis and a collaborative treatment plan designed specifically for your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions are my clinical expertise and my genuine, down-to-earth compassion. Clients often tell me they appreciate that my office is a space where it is safe to be vulnerable—you might cry, but we will also find reasons to laugh. I may know the right answers, but I ask good questions. My patients tell me that I am kind and that I genuinely care for them as individuals. I believe that a trusting relationship can foster meaningful change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

While I treat individuals across the lifespan, I am particularly passionate about working with children, teens, and young adults. My approach is family-inclusive, ensuring a supportive environment at home and school. I specialize in supporting families navigating a previous Autism diagnosis by treating co-occurring challenges like ADHD, anxiety, or depression. Additionally, I have a deep interest in helping those healing from childhood trauma. Whether you are a student needing help with school accommodations or an adult looking for a holistic partner in your mental health, I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQI.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

People who come for treatment have already have made the first step in making a change. I utilize Motivational Interviewing to provide a collaborative space where your goals take center stage. I am here to guide you in identifying the shifts you wish to make while celebrating the strengths you already possess.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support patients navigating depression, anxiety, and trauma. Our work together involves gently identifying 'all-or-nothing' thinking and other negative thought patterns that may feel overwhelming. By exploring the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, I will help you develop and practice coping skills. Together, we will challenge distorted perspectives to help you find more balance and clarity in your daily life."

Humanistic

I operate from the core belief that you are far more than the symptoms you may be experiencing. My Humanistic approach focuses on seeing you as a whole person, providing a safe space built on empathy, genuine acceptance, and unconditional positive regard. Through active and reflective listening, I aim to support you in realizing your full potential and empowering you to live your best life

Psychoeducation

I believe that understanding the 'why' behind your symptoms is a vital part of the healing process. Through Psychoeducation, I empower you with clear knowledge about your mental health and the tools available to manage it. In my physical office, I provide a hands-on environment where you can 'try-on' various coping skills to see what resonates with you personally. This interactive approach is especially effective for children, as it gives them a tangible way to explore and navigate their emotions when words might be hard to find."
