(she/they)
Do you feel overwhelmed by the expectations of the world? Do you worry about what the future holds? Are you struggling with feeling hopeless or directionless? Living in our current societal context can be incredibly hard, especially when you are already carrying the weight of the accumulation of your lived experiences. The good news is you are not alone. I work to empower clients to evaluate their context within their systems, explore and understand their feelings and desires, and support them as they work towards creating the lives they are passionate about living. I highly value engaging with all aspects of a person's life in the therapy room to provide holistic care to the whole person in their systemic context. I view therapy as a partnership and am willing to get creative with how we approach your problems. You deserve to give yourself space to heal and grow, and to take charge of what you can control in this unpredictable world we live in!
During our first session, you can expect me to ask a lot of questions. I want to get to know you and understand why you want to talk to a therapist. I also want to make sure I answer any questions you have. Once we get to know each other, we will begin to explore goals you have for yourself, how you conceptualize the challenges you want to address, and your expectations for therapy. As we continue our work together, you can expect that I will check in regularly about how things are working for you. I value client feedback immensely. We will periodically check in about your perception about your progress towards your goals, and will explore various therapeutic methods to find techniques that work for you.
I like to use assessments throughout treatment to explore symptoms and progress. I have found these tools to be helpful for both me and my clients to better understand what the problem is, what's working, and what isn't. I am comfortable with using several treatment methods. I primarily employ psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. I like to focus on attachment and family systems, and my practice is deeply rooted in liberation psychology.
I am great at seeing the big picture, listening to and understanding needs, and finding creative ways to explore challenging topics.
