Courtney White

LPC (she/her)17 years of experience

Hi, I'm Courtney! I have over 15 years of experience working with men and women in both residential treatment and community mental health agencies. I am passionate about helping adults break free from unhealthy patterns and destructive behaviors that prevent them from living authentically. My warm, interactive style creates a safe space where you can explore what's holding you back and move toward a more fulfilling life.

First session

In our first sessions, I'll share my background and approach while learning about your needs and history. Together we'll create a goal plan tailored to you. Once we identify your most pressing issue(s), we will build coping skills to manage difficult feelings and emotions, creating a foundation for exploring deeper concerns and work collaboratively toward meaningful change.

Strengths

I combine person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior, and solution-focused therapies tailored to your unique background and needs. We'll build coping skills first, then explore deeper issues at your pace. My style is interactive and collaborative but I am flexible - I generally give feedback and homework in between sessions but can meet you where you if you prefer an alternative style or addressing all of your needs in session.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is struggling with the stress and pressures of everyday life and recognizes that they may need support navigating what they are experiencing. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, substance use concerns, grief, or difficulty managing the many responsibilities placed on them. Often, these clients are used to being strong for everyone else and may feel exhausted, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. They may be struggling to balance work, relationships, family responsibilities, and their own emotional needs. Some may be experiencing patterns they understand are no longer serving them but are unsure how to change them.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a type of therapy that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT helps you notice unhelpful thinking patterns, change behaviors that aren't working, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. It is commonly used to help with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, trauma-related symptoms, and many other concerns.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a type of therapy that teaches people practical skills to better manage strong emotions, stress, relationships, and difficult situations. The 4 Main DBT Skill Areas: 1. Mindfulness – Learning to stay present and notice your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without immediately reacting. 2. Distress Tolerance – Learning healthy ways to get through difficult moments without using harmful or impulsive behaviors. 3. Emotion Regulation – Understanding emotions and learning skills to reduce emotional intensity and respond more effectively. 4. Interpersonal Effectiveness – Learning how to communicate needs, handle conflict, establish boundaries, and maintain healthy relationships. CBT often focuses heavily on changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, while DBT emphasizes managing emotions, tolerating distress, improving relationships, and balancing acceptance with change.
