Hello, my name is Susana Valdez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who works with individuals and specializes in adults who may be experiencing difficult life events, challenges or transitions. I practice a strength based approach to therapy, focusing on each individuals strengths and capacity for resiliency; while taking into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.
Through a supportive and confidential environment, I assist clients in reducing emotional distress, identifying and understanding problematic behaviors and developing appropriate tools to improve their overall quality of life. I strive to create a client-centered, empathetic and judgement-free environment, that fosters insight, acceptance and self compassion.
I am skilled in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Strength Based Therapy and Crisis Intervention.
I have helped individuals who are coping with various concerns, such as addiction, anxiety, depression, perinatal and postpartum depression, trauma and PTSD. I have also worked with adults who experience situational stressors such as relationship conflicts, bereavement or loss.
